Most of the folks here voicing there opinion are very much in tune with the local weather and snow patterns. While the decision to delay the opening of the Boom on the 20th may have been prudent the ability of crews to open the terrain accessed by the Eagle has been deplorable.
There was a time when the objective was to open all frontside terrain at 9 o'clock, not just half of it...
Why not just run the Yellow until 10, we could get rid of that ridiculous ropeline that keeps creeping further down O'Henry and snow-safety could do something more constructive than standing around shivering all morning.

Hey All
Looks like we have a few folks that are not in tune with the weather or snow. First of all the white out that occurred on the 20th did not allow the avalanche control team to safely work in the terrain or have confidence that all overhead hazard had been eliminated. The forecast for clearing and cooling on the 21st ensured that day was really one of the best skiing days on the hill this season. By not effecting the slopes with explosives the intact snow ensured the 21st was unbelievable. If the team had attempted to open the OB on the 20th the reloading that was occurring on the upper start zones would of been a recipe for disaster as well the area would of been a mess from explosive avalanche control. The amount of skier traffic in the steeper terrain is typically low as the majority of skiers follow the same traverses. The 21st was a great ski day with all terrain open just after 10am, the skier traffic in the outback consisted of a variety of people from 7 year old to the 55+ year old rippers. The area was both assess and confidence in the decision to open was backed up with proper control and observations, safety for all users is paramount.
This review was written by Jesse Percival and I would like to invite any one to come down to patrol and we would be happy to share with you our snow safety program.
Storm day yesterday, great skiing in the trees. Nice to have the backside chair preserved for today's overhead super dry pow pow. If you didn't spend the day skiing again another epic day. So to all the folks that have worked hard to open the hill safely. Thanks!
Plain and simple. It's time for mt. Washington to step up to the plate and invest in some professional avalanchecontrol.after 30 years of skiing this hill this must be the worst for late openings. The Boom never opened at all yesterday, there was a undetinated explosive that delayed the west side from opening. I didn't pay 1337 dollars to piss around skiing the same laps over and over waiting for the decent terrain to open. Take a look at the average ability of the patrol: intermediates. Enough said get er together boys!

Another great day of light snow, another day of no Boomerang. With only 10 cms of fresh at report time, avalanche control should be easily accomplished. Instead, patrol(management) sit on their hands until another 20+ fall. The public should have access to ski this area, not only to enjoy it, but to cut it up as the snow builds, hence making it more stable as it gets deeper. As a passholder and diehard powderhound I am absolutely peeved at the nonresponse management shows and choked that all that fantastic powder wasn't available. I know you're the only ski area for most Island folk, I just wish you would try a little harder.
While I have no complaints with the weather patterns of late, I do have some concerns about the management and operation of Mt Washington. Recently I have heard that several experienced ski patrollers have been let go due to raising concerns regarding safety issues (things "weren't working out.) This includes some key members of the avalanche control team.
Yesterday, the Boom chair didn't open at all..... and I am wondering if there is a correlation between firing key members of the avalanche safety team and not opening the outback?
Also, it should be worth noting that I have asked Mt Washington (very diplomatically) for their side of the story on Facebook, and they have blocked me from posting! If they weren't trying to hide something, wouldn't they have responded? Seems like they might be hiding something....
Great snow, but why no boom open today, not enough people? Time to whine again. How is it this mountain can open with 40 fresh at 11 one day and not even open when only 15 fell by 10am. Yeah, go ahead everyone who works for Mt Wash, call me a whiner, because if you consider today good customer service then you are a fool. It is spring break, my family and my cousins are all up here and can't understand why more terrain was not open. The best avi control is people skiing on a falling snow. Sorry guys, thought you had picked it up and were listening, obviously ....no. Go ahead call me a whiner for wanting what would have been best day of the year on the backside, now we got windblown with warming temperatures. Does anyone actually care? Don't even get me started on Monday! Holy crap, run the Hawk, the friggin carpets, something so the kids can do something.

Kudos to Mt. Washington staff, especially Keith and Dan at Fresh for providing hot drinks and food to cold and stranded guests on Monday during the powder outage and powder onage! Thank you!

Finally the park is pretty good. It only took all season and it seems the only reason it was finally built up is because of the slope style comp but regardless it was nice to finally have some bigger hits. Good work.
I've been wiggling my way down the slopes since I can remember and have to say the resort is in the best shape its ever been. I love the new carpets even thought they sometimes smell a little funky. On the powder days patrol seems to step it up and get things open in a timely matter, and the park crew can be seen working their butts off digging out the features for us. I have talked to them and was surprised at just how many hours it takes with shovelling and snow cats to make a great park. But in all my years skiing in western Canada I have not seen so many whiners. Come on people, if you want Whistler service, go spend Whistler $ and go to Whistler. I know for a fact sometimes the avalanche terrain there is closed for days! You can see me on Washy when the suns out, usually on my fav chair - the sunrise! Love the crew, love the people, mostly love the fresh pow and soft snow on sunny days! Thank you MTWASH <3 <3 <3
