So we are off again to Neiderau only this time there are 19 of us meeting up from all over the country. Staying at the Hotel Vicky, a fantastic hotel for families. Going on the 28th Jan 06 and we cant wait, the atmosphere is brilliant. Just came back from New Year in Schladming, Austria. Fantastic resort and amazing town, just needed a little more speed to keep up with the fantastic skiers there. Neiderau is a soft spot for us, we took our 4 year old son there just to see the snow for Christmas and then was hit with the skiing bug. My son didn't start to ski there until he was 5 years old and now he's 8 and in the local ski racing team, so as you can see he's got the bug too! Brill! Can recommend Neiderau, it's fantastic; hope to get another one there as soon as possible. Let you know how we get on for the 7th or 8th time we will have been there. Negative side, there is no town, only one ski shop and the local restaurants are mainly in the hotels; but who cares we're not there for shopping it's down hill all the way and I mean red run 19. Try it, you'll love it.
We have just returned from our skiing holiday in Niederau, Austria. The Snow conditions are excellent this year (We were told the best since 1963). The ski schools for adults and children were brilliant. Our 6 year old son was taking the button lift on his own and skiing down the lower slopes by the end of the week. (Far beyond our expectations)
We stayed at the Pension Enzian (www.enzian.com). Excellent family run hotel. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and everyone is made welcome by Thomas and Naomi and their staff. The rooms are spotlessly clean.
There is a beginners slope opposite the hotel, with the main lifts just 5 mins away. These can be accessed by either walking or skiing.
The food is good and was enjoyed by all, including children.
I will certainly be booking this resort and this hotel again next year.
We have just had a fantastic holiday in Niederau, staying at the Hotel Austria.
My two children were in ski school as was myself and my husband.
Excellent tuition by all the staff. I would certainly recommend Niederau for beginners and intermediates. Austria is a beautifull country and we hope to return again next Christmas.
We have just returned from our Christmas holiday in Niederau. We stayed at the Almdorf Cabins which were delightful, very traditional and almost rustic, the staff were really friendly and always made us feel welcome. The cabin itself was warm and cozy. The only small negative point to make about the accommodation is that the brochure review stated it was about 10 min's walk from the slopes when in fact it was more like 35 min's walk, which was hard work with 3 small rugrats in tow!
The ski school was wonderful my 3 kids loved it. The instructors were kind, gentle and spoke great English. It was wonderful watching the kids progress each day and at times scary??!
My husband is a great snowboarder, but this was my first time, although I managed quite well I found the drag lifts an absolute nightmare!!!In my opinion the resort doesn't cater well for snowboarding especially beginner snowboarders? The resort would benefit from more chair lifts rather than drag lifts and the gondola doesn't have stop points it only goes straight to mountain piste. Having mentioned the small minor negative points about the resort I can honestly say we had a fantastic time, EVERYONE was sooo friendly. The ski school race at the end of the week was the absolute highlight of the holiday. The perfect family ski resort 4***
HAPPY NEW YEAR X
Visited Niederau in March 2005, snow was just starting to dissapear but we had a great time on the red slope under the gondola, Auffach was excellent with a run that seemed to last for several fun minutes. Watched in terror as our son Thomas came down the mountain like a speed DEMON. Stopped at the Marrianne and had a memorable time. Cisiting again for Christmas.

Well we're off to Neiderau again in January for the 7th time brilliant for families, excellent for beginners, well we are'nt beginners anymore but the atmosphereand the ski school is brilliant. We are staying at the Hotel Vicky great family hotel we are meeting up with people that we met last year, all determined this time to beat each other at the end of the week ski race. Last year they had the most snow for 10 years we went off piste and it was right up to my waist pure powder, it was fantastic, we have a very soft spot for Neiderau. All getting excited for Jan theres 8 of us going this year cant wait, another brill place to go is Kaprun in Austria alot more challenging loadfs more runs, unfortunatley not ski to door, but only 10 mins on the ski bus, we love it there to been there 8 times, yes we are creatures of habit. Never ever had a bad holiday at Neiderau the scenery is breath taking and the food at the Vicky is top class, we are going on the 28th Jan or the 25th cant remember but its one of them dates, Ps fly to innsbruck not salzbury, the journey from slazburg is a nightmare too many drop offs took us nearly 4 hours, Innsbruck only 1 hour away, just ask travel agent to try that airport for you first, see you there!
Niederau is a very attractive village with 2 supermarkets (one has a cafe), gift shop, bars, few restaurants, internet cafe, couple of discos (quiet when we were there Feb.05). 2 ski schools. We were lucky to have perfect snow, blue skies and sunshine. Would recommend Hotel Simmerlwirt - one of best positions in village for ski school meeting place, nursery slopes, gondola, ski hire shop and village centre. Fantastic views of slopes from bedrooms (tho' sometimes churchbells ring at night!). Useful basement heated ski storage area. Mix of British, Dutch and Germans. Enjoyed horse-drawn sleigh ride, especially homemade gluhwein at pension we stopped at! Good nursery slopes for beginners but red run under gondola too difficult for some.
Ready to go to Neiderau 29th January 2005 this will be our 4th time there. Staying at the Hotel vicky fantastic hotel for familys, Neiderau is one of the most beautiful places Ive been. Very friendly, excellent ski schools well catered for the kids. Just come back from Chamonix in france it hasnt got the atmosphere like Austria, would recommend this resort to all families, dont forget if the kids arent happy neither will you be, try Neiderau first.

What a great Xmas holiday we have just spent in Niederau. Skiing was great plenty of fresh snow fell Boxing day evening and during the rest of the week. Ski School is excellent and nursery slopes are great although lifts do get a bit crowded. Unfortunately during our stay there seemed to be some virus going around affecting many of the hotels and some of the local people. Seems to last around 24 hours so it would be wise to take some precautions for upset stomachs. Locals are very friendly, try the hotel staffler Cave bar for live music.
