Neiderau has a great atmosphere but thee is not a lot to do at night. There's the famous cave bar. All of you are going to be rocking. We laugh from the minute we get to the airport until we leave, then we are crying believe me. The Vicky is full of fun, night and day. Red 19 is wicked! We have been to France and Switzerland but the atmosphere here is great. Everyone is really friendly and the ski instructors are wicked. Theres gunter the hunter, who has an apres-bar in the village, you won't miss him. Then there's dishy Christian, Peter and Tony who's a brill instructor and many more.

Just a reply to Claire's review. Have never been skiing to Austria, only France and Canada. Staying in the same hotel as yourself and arriving the same day. So I'm sure I will see and hear all you guys. Thanks for the review on the hotel, sounds pretty nice. Going with my girlfriend and another couple. See you there.

Hi, it's us again travelling back to the hotel Vicy for about the 10th time. Have been going to Neiderau since our son was 4 years old, he is now nearly 11! 18 of us returning so be prepared, you will hear us before you see us. We are all in training for the fun race but it's not fun for us, we are serious, ha ha, waxing up our skis ready. Hope we are all together in the same ski school class! Hotel Vicky is basic. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is great. The kids love it. So look out for us or listen out for us, we are prepared with our riddle for the quiz night and stiff competition for the Cup! Yahoo! cant wait. Hope my fellow ski buddies read this, they will know where I'm coming from. Ski school is brilliant, probably the best. Have been to many other ski schools and Neiderau is superb. Don't listen to anyone else! Not a lot of runs but varied terrain and some great secret off-piste. See you there! Arriving Feb 2nd 2008!

Returned 10 Feb after staying at Hotel Vicky, where we had a brilliant time. Basic rooms but the beds were so comfortable, the food was very good, (wife loved the cakes for afternoon tea) and all management and staff at the hotel were friendly and could not be more helpful. Our first skiing holiday and we loved it. Everything is close to hand. Ski school is great. We were amazed how much we progressed in a week. Such a beautiful village with enough pubs. Especially liked Bobo's. Not a lot of shops but who wants to shop when you're busy having so much fun learning to ski and meeting great people who are enjoying the same experience. Cant fault anything. Just brilliant.

We stayed at the Harfenwirt with our best friends and their daughter (10) beginning of Feb 2007. What a great time. We are all 1st timers and complete beginners to skiing. The snow wasn't brilliant but we did have a small amount of snow fall one evening so it was better. The ski school was just excellent and if we can learn to ski then anybody can. The ski lifts did get busy and we did have to queue, but then that was just expected. The resort was perfect for beginners and very safe, we would definately come back here again. The Hotel Harfenwirt is recommended. Very clean but basic, very warm and the food was good too. The breakfast was a little basic but we could live with that. We did eat at the Hotel Austria one evening and the food was very good there. As for the apres-ski......just fab. Bobo's and the Sports Bar are a scream.....Overall a great, hard-working holiday.

We stayed at the Club Hotel Vicky at the beginning of January 2007. We travelled with 3 children aged 9,7 and 4. Hotel rooms were basic but very clean and warm. The staff were a young crowd but very helpful and polite, nothing was too much trouble. The girls in the hotel creche were lovely and my little girl really enjoyed going. Tea, coffee and fruit juices along with freshly baked cakes were served in the bar in the late afternoon. My kids really enjoyed this facility with unlimited access to cake and juice. With reference to a previous posting I must add that alcohol was not on offer free to adults or children at this time. Noticed a sign on the staff kitchen wall from the manager reminding staff to work hard but to have fun! A really happy team worked hard and made their guests very welcome. Must add that the food was very nice and there was a good choice including a vegetarian option. Staff catered for my fussy youngster who just wanted plain cooked pasta with a little meat. As for the skiing- Ski school was very well run. My kids really enjoyed it and made good progress. Snow conditions were poor due to the lack of snow like most places this year in Europe, but we managed to ski for the whole week. A resort for beginners, second and third year skiers but would disappoint advanced.

Just returned from Niederau staying at Club Vicky. Niederau is a very pretty location. Unfortunately there was little snow and what runs were open towards the end of the week were packed with long queues as you would expect. The problem with a relatively low resort I imagine. The various companies arranged trips out to higher resorts which is fine if you can ski! I was dissapointed that our company charged (55 euros) also the ski schools offered lessons on icy nursery slopes which put a lot of 1st time skiers off. Difficult to make a judgement overall as to the lack of snow. I would probably not go back there and if going to Austria would choose a higher resort, to have a better chance of snow and more importantly to be able to claim on travel insurance, below 1000ft and some companies will not compensate you. Good luck with your skiing.

Excellent holiday. Staffler Hotel very good. Ski school great. Conditions not perfect but still skied 5 days out of 6. Apres- ski the best yet!! Be careful buying your lift pass through the reps, it is cheaper at the lift office at the bottom of the gondola.

On the 16 Dec 2006 I took my partner & son (17), & daughter (14) to stay at the Club Hotel Vicky in Niederau. It was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in EVER, The staff just didn't care about anything, the food was awful and very small portions. Most of the staff were hungover in the morning, The bed linen was not changed in the seven days we were there. I had a hole in my bed sheet. When we did pluck up the courage to complain we were made to pay big time, we were ignored at breakfast. The staff gave alcohol to children aged 5/6 in the afternoon thinking it was apple juice....the staff thought this so funny !! Thompson ski holiday run this hotel and should be ashamed of themselves, I felt totally ripped off. My advice to anyone thinking of going to Hotel Vicky is DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY...ITS AWFUL !!

Second time staying in Niederau Jan 07 and also second time staying at the Hotel Austria. The hotel was as good as ever and I think the restaurant has improved. Unfortunately not great snow this time - the ski show and the races were cancelled due to the icy nursery slopes. The kids still had their races though. Only one nursery slope open by the end of the week. Black runs closed also. Quite warm, no need for scarves or hats - was no colder that the UK has been recently. The Wildschonau Ski School as is good as we remembered - first class instruction and a great class of people. Apres-ski in the Sports Cafe was excellent, as usual. Hardly any lift queues but probably because of the snow. Have booked again for 2008 because we feel there's still enough to challenge us for another year.
