The Lecht is awesome!
I live in Perth, Scotland so I have a choice of Glenshee, Cairngorms or the Lecht but I always prefer to go to the Lecht as it is soooo much fun. They have good facilities and the terrain park is wicked.
Glenshee is awesome too but if you go on a weekend it is a nightmare as you spend most of the day standing in queues for the lifts.
I strongly discourage anyone from going to The Lecht. Me and my friend went after Christmas and booked two days ski school with boot and ski hire. We went for one day and the next day it was closed because the snow was so bad. After contacting them a few times and getting quite a rude attitude in response they still refuse to refund any money without us having our lift passes - which we unfortunately don't. They refuse to accept we've paid even though I watched them write "paid in full" over our names in their appointments book. Feel very cheated, by the lack of communication and organisation. At the very least I suggest you ask for a receipt and pay by card. The Lech is a very nice place to go if all goes well but for security I'd use a bigger company like Cairngorm.

Just back from The Lecht - had a fantastic time.
Typical Scottish skiing conditions (ahem...) - blue sky, sun, packed powder, no wind - and all on the first weekend in November!! Only about 150 cars in the car park so no queues either.
When Scotland's good it's excellent but when it's bad...well that's another story.
All credit to The Lecht for making the effort to open so early.
Living locally, I consider myself fortunate to have the Lecht close at hand. I do, however, wish the operators would give more information to the public regards ski conditions. They should also be able to clear the roads easier so it doesn't close when they have too much snow. Facilities are good and runs cater for all levels. On the way home, if going via Glenkindie, call at the Glenkindie Arms. Eddie and Debs will see you right for a good pint and just as fine a home cooked meal.

The Lecht may be smaller and lower than Glenshee or Cairngorm but it is sheltered, north facing and has the best snow making/grooming facilites in scotland. This means that it is often open when the bigger resorts are closed. The pistes are not that long but suit all abilites and the simple layout of the resort means children can be left to roam free with out geting lost.
Midweek you will have the pistes and lifts to yourself but on a good weekend the secret (to weekend skiing anywhere) is to have your skis on by 9.
There is also a brand new base station including cafe bar and ski hire system which means that you can have a pint while you wait.
All in all this is well run resort perfect for learning any time and on a good day is as gud as any where.
