We went to kranjska Gora for Xmas 2013 and had a lovely time. Hotel Lek is really lovely, perfect hosting staff, rooms cleaned every day and wonderful food. Unfortunately, there was a lack of snow as the weather was unseasonably warn. They did, however, manage to keep some of the runs open and even offered a daily discount on the lift pass. We did our passes daily just in case we wanted to go and visit other places and this proved to be to our advantage. There was virtually no queuing and no pushing and shoving which is what we encountered in Bansko last year (average queue times there last year, to get up in the gondola, were 3 hours and that was on a good day). Note here, to people, to avoid Bansko, in Bulgaria, like the plague.
We are returning to Kranjska Gora in 3 weeks time as we enjoyed it so much as Xmas. Unfortunately, we couldn't get into the Lek but have got a hotel with doorstep skiing. Here's hoping that this holiday will be just as good, if not better, than the last. Kranjska Gora here we come.
