Very disappointed with Grindelwald. It feels like a cheap tourist village but with exorbitant costs. Not value for money and not worth it. Full of non-skiing Asian tourists who clog up the lift systems for insta opportunities.
If you manage to get on the mountain the skiing is ok but very crowded. People skiing far too fast on blue runs. Better options in Austria in my opinion and better value for money.
Well, Grindelwald is not as pretty as Wengen but I won't call it ugly. Stayed at the Kirschbuhl hotel; 120 euros a night, breakfast included; this was in February 2017. The breakfast was superb and the view through the mountains to the Eiger just mind blowing. The suppers were fabulous but a tad expensive. Hey, fabulous food is almost never cheap. This is a 4 star hotel but having supper and looking out to the moonlight drenched snowy mountains is just amazing; they seem so immediate. The staff at the hotel were incredible and jolly helpful. Heh, heh the cake and pastries at tea time were free and freshly baked. There are lots of good cheap restaurants, actually dirt cheap if you compare them to Zermatt, Verbier, Saas Fee and Crans Montana.
Your English version of your resort stats says 125 acres of terrain, It's more like 12,500 if you include Furst! 125 is quite small as an acre is smaller than a hectare.

If you are from North America you haven't skied till you have come here. Fabulous terrain, scenery, lifts and on-slope accommodation. Was there for the lauberhorn week; it was uncrowded, inexpensive and it snowed 25cm the morning I got there! I am from Red at Rossland so giving out these kudos doesn't come easy!
Visited Grindlewald Jan. 26th to Feb.2nd. This was my second trip to the area in 8 years. Had a fantastic holiday and stayed at the Jungfrau Inn. Good accomodations and great food. The sking is fantastic throughout the entire Jungfrau Region. Runs are mostly rated Intermediate with great cruising runs. Modern lifts and cable cars throughout. For some reason I enjoyed myself more this time than 8 years previous. I thoroughly recommend the Jungfrau region for a ski holiday.
I keep coming back year after year. Grindelwald is situated under the shadow of the North Face of the Eiger. One of the most beautiful places on Earth. Skiing is mainly intermediate, though beginner areas are dotted around and those looking for more of a challenge need just ask locals for directions to the White Hare. Lifts are improving every year and snow making machines are in place on almost all slopes. Avoid going on the Mannlichen gondola at 9am as most people do, unless you want to stand around for a while. There are several wonderful long runs back down to Grund from both Kleine Scheidegg and Mannlichen. Great watering holes include the Holzer Bar on the Tschuggen Piste and in town the Avocado Bar has a good selection of beers at reasonable prices. Roll on next winter.

I visited Grindelwald for the first time last season. WOW! What a stunning place. There are four massive mountains towering over the village, all around 4000m in height and all spectacular in their own right. Take a trip up to Jungfraujoch if you get the chance, a real experience and well worth the money for the views from both the top and from the middle of the North Face of the Eiger. Skiing-wise I can't comment too much as I haven't really skied since I was a kid. I took a few lessons with Altitude, a British ski school, and they were fantastic. I would definitely recommend them, in fact so much so that my family and I will be back again this year. Will be staying in the Hotel Eiger again, a really nice hotel with great food. Been keeping my eye on the snow forecasts recently and my excitement is building up as more snow is forecast. I can't wait to get back on skis!
All I can say is wow! Have been there twice now and can't wait for the third! The last time there the weather was 50 degrees everyday with bright sunshine. Even with the lack of snow, it was great! Just sitting up on top of the mountain at the ice bar enjoying swiss food and drink was heavenly! The views! Our teenage kids loved it. Did not worry about where they were because the runs all emptied out to the village. But, they soon found out they could legally drink beer! We stayed at the Hotel Eiger again which is old time charm with all modern comforts! Check out the spa, it was a nightly visit after skiing! The trains up to the top of the mountain are comfortable but can be crowded. You do not need a car in the village, take the train in from Interlaken, about a 45 minute ride!
A top ski resort. Plenty to do if the snow isn't forthcoming and endless opportunity for fun when it is (there was a metre of powder when I was there and that was on piste!) The snow, at first, always seemed good, (lookout for avalanches from the Wetterhorn across the valley [no danger]). Kleine Scheidegg is very good for warming drinks in teepee etc and superb views of the Eiger with a lovely descent to the village through trees. Great little journey to Wengen beside the funicular railway. Support Grindelwald playing ice hockey at the sports centre. Forget taking the cable car from Wengen to Männlichen and take the train to Kleine Scheidegg and ski across to Männlichen. Ski from the top of Schilthorn if you feel brave. Superb sights and with a strong climbing heritage, which I like. Very good shops with which to stock up on winter gear. Good for walking. Picturesque and friendly.

Perhaps the most beautiful place on the planet to ski. Long, varied incredibly beautiful runs down to the villages of Grindelwald and Wengen. Three distinct skiing areas, including spectacular Murren/Shilthorn. Lift lines on the mountain are short, getting up can be a problem during Christmas and school vacation if you go at rush hour, 0930 to 1030, but where isn't that the case? Excellent on slope restaurants and the Teepee at Kleini Scheidegg and the Holzer Bar on the way down to Grindelwald are first rate on slope watering holes. And don't miss the Challi Bar for late night downtown Grindelwald fun. If you don't have a blast in Grindelwald, it's your own fault.
