I,ve booked to take group of children to Hotel du col 18th Jan, so did a recon week 14 Dec.we stayed in the Argento hotel in Borgatta. Despite there being plenty of access to Sestriere and Souze,because it was 1st week of season there was,nt any transport, so this was no good for complete beginners, who could not ski back to the resort. There was only one bar, that was closed except for one night, and one restaurant and one pizza place,but if you just want good skiing and limited apres ski, then Borgatta is great. However, I,m looking forward to returning to sestriere,our hotel is in a fab location, and if the conditions are like Dec, then we,re in for a great time. The are some lovely long wide runs to Sauze,the sun was shining and the powder snow made the experience one to remember, hopefully,a bit into the season the atmosphere will be more lively as it was a bit too quiet in Dec, but I have,nt ever been that early before, anyway, the sun and snow made it well worth while!!
