USA Snow Report

We have a choice of four places to slide outdoors in the USA this weekend, up one from a week ago, partly due to a summer opening, partly due to a season extension. The former sees snow sports return to Colorado as Copper Mountain will open its summer hike-to terrain park from Friday, and this year it will open to the public four days a week, adding Thursdays to its previous Friday–Sunday schedule.

The Hike Park and The Barn reopen June 5, with the first Thursday session on June 11. The Hike Park will run 10am–5pm with rails, tubes, boxes and more, operating as long as snow lasts. Day tickets are $25, while a summer park pass is $249. The latter is at California’s Mammoth Mountain (24/96" / 60/240cm), which has been extending its season at short notice for the past few weeks and could do so again. The centre says it had over 5 feet (1.5m) of May snowfall with more at the weekend, giving a slope refresh. About a quarter of its slopes are still open from 7am to 1pm daily.

The summer ski area at Beartooth Basin in the Rockies on the Wyoming/Montana border also continues. Here, some fresh snowfall was reported over the weekend. You can also ski or board on the Palmer Snowfield above Timberline on Mt Hood in Oregon. East coast tourers got a boost at the start of the week with Mt Washington reporting about six inches of fresh snowfall.

USA Snow Forecast
A warm early-June pattern is forecast across still-open North American ski zones. Mammoth sees upper-mountain lows near 28–32°F and highs in the mid-40s°F, with mainly dry skies. Timberline stays slightly cooler, with light snow/rain possible above approximately 7,000ft. Beartooth Basin remains chilly on the ridge, hovering 32–40°F with breezy afternoons. Copper Mountain, now closed, trends mild and dry, with temperatures in the 50s–60s°F at mid-mountain.

Canada Snow Report

There's nowhere currently open in Canada but Sunshine Village near Banff in Alberta, which, with reopening for summer skiing later this month, reported it had significant fresh snowfall over the weekend, about 25cm (10”) in total in fact.

Sunshine, Canada: 31st may 2026.

Other than the snow showers, conditions have been mostly sunny at still-open centres. Overnight lows on the highest terrain have been close to freezing, sometimes still getting a few degrees below, but daytime highs have been in the high 40s, 50s or even 60s Fahrenheit.

Canada Snow Forecast
Conditions remain generally mild with freezing overnight temperatures on the highest terrain. Sunny spells dominate, although lingering snow showers remain possible at the highest elevations. Fresh snowfall from the past week should help preserve remaining snow cover ahead of summer operations.
