The New €155m Les Grands Montets Lift

Closed since the devastating 2018 fire, the first part of the flagship new Grands Montets lift above Argentière in the Chamonix Valley is set to open this December.

The first section of the new Argentière-Lognan gondola, which was given a €155m price tag when announced two years ago, features 10-seater cabins and glass, pyrite shaped stations designed by the famous Italian architect Renzo Piano Building Workshop. Construction has been meticulously as eco-conscious as it can be, engineered to protect the classified Mont-Blanc site.

Beyond the lift itself a beginner area and a dining space will welcome skiers and sightseers at Lognan (1,972 m).

The upper section set to connect Lognan to the summit of Les Grands Montets at 3,275m, restoring lift access after nine years, is scheduled to reopen in December 2027.
