Why is snow history important?

Anyone can use snow history to their own advantage- whether you might be skiing, snowboarding, exploring the wilderness by foot, or just enjoying a relaxing holiday in the snowy mountain ranges that populate about 25% of Earth's land area. Every year is different so looking back at past snowfall for specific resorts and mountains is a great way to guage the reliability of weather in that region. By looking at previous weeks you will also have a better chance of planning ski trips in advance during times when there is likely to be more snow on the slopes, which could make your trips cheaper in the long-run and make everything altogether less stressful to book in!

How to use it:

  • Firstly, navigate to the homepage of our website, and log in if you aren't already.
  • You will then need to use the dropdown function in the top left-hand corner of the page to select the country and resort you would like to view. You can also use the Search function box in the top right-hand corner to do this.
  • You will then be taken to your chosen resort page, where you can click on the 'History' button under the column titled 'ADVANCED' if using a laptop, or the button near the top of the page, undernreththe resort name title, labelled 'History' if usign a mobile phone. This will allow you to view the average snow and weather conditions in that resort for a specific week based on previous years.

  • As you scroll down the page, you will see the average snowfall per month for your chosen resort. You can also compare the resort you have chosen with another one.
  • Several charts showing average snowfall, snow conditions, and temperature in the region will also be available. These can be customized to focus on weather conditions at different points on the mountains and for different seasons, as shown in the video below.
