Just booked again for Tignes! Told myself to try somewhere different but nothing quite matched up in terms of value for money. Went for the New Year and off again in two and a half weeks time. Hoping for some new snow but the webcams still show evidence of great snow conditions. It is the best resort!

Visited Espace Killy (Tignes) for the first time. Amazing motorway piste runs and plenty of variety for all levels. We did find, however, that some of the runs connecting the resorts were under-rated in difficulty. This would be problematic for less experienced skiers exploring the mountain. A week's skiing didn't do the place justice. Disappointingly, we had no new snow for the entire week, which made it quite icy in the morning. The off-piste looked great, but without new snow it was very crusty.

Going up to Tignes again in a couple of weeks. Can't fault this place at all! It will be my second time spending a week at Tignes and the runs are just amazing. I was in Val D'Isere last season but decided to come back to Tignes because it seems to be cheaper overall. Plus I prefer the runs on this side especially when the blizzard hit and you can go in the lower tree covers in Brev. Great resort and with great interlinking runs throught the Espace Kelly area!

Been to Tignes twice now, in fact learnt here 3 years ago age 55 and I love it so proves you are never too old. Great place to learn as nursery slopes are all free and plenty of cafe's to recover in. Advise to have private lesson or two first then group lessons otherwise you just get left behind when they all turn and you find you have not quite mastered that yet. If you are going self catering the SPAR shop in Le Lac does a range of take aways that are great to take back to collapse and recover to get recovered enough to hit the slopes again at 08:30 and last till 16:30 when it gets dark. Coming back again on the 8th of Jan for a week so hope it keeps snowing.

I last went to Tignes in 1997; and whilst I do not care much for the cold - or even skiing - being a beach bum, my other half, who is an everything bum and thinks he is God's gift to skiing, raves about the skiing there. So inevitably I return. I however am delighted to see that Tignes now has wonderful facilities for those that do not care to speed on two planks down a mountain in repetative motion... like saunas, a swimming pool with mountain views, ice driving, paragliding and ice diving. I may not kick up a fuss quite so much this time... said other half may have to open his wallet however to keep me occupied. More wine anyone...

I started skiing at 3 years old, in Cyprus of all places. What my father did not tell me was his grand plan to then ski in Tignes for the next 21 years in a row! I have subsequently skied in Chamonix a lot but as a skier who just cares about skiing and not necessarily the ambience, clubs and all the trimmings. Tignes must be up there as one of the best resorts in the world. If you like hard extreme skiing then go to Tignes.

Replying to another reviewers query - Tignes is awash with snow at new year. We have been the last two Christmases and also new year just gone - fantastic skiing and lots of fresh powder. Loads of good apartments but if you want bargain basement with brilliant piste access and close to facilities go for Borsat IV - we are going back there for our 4th time this Christmas. Tignes is definitely a snow sure resort - they already have 10 lifts open and conditions are reported to be fantastic. Good luck!

Hey guys, I'm looking to book an apartment for a group of 4 of us over new year 2010/2011. How will the snow be? Will the skiing be decent? Please let me know!? Thanks [note from the editor: as this is not a review of a ski resort we shall leave it in place for a short period.]

Every year I am on Espace Killy slopes from 23.04 til 02.05 and what can I say, best skiing in Europe! Where else in the world can you ski from 3450m to 1250m, where else in the world can you ski on two glaciers in one ski resort (for only 400 euros)? I love Espace Killy.

Skied this area many times. Tignes is undoubtably the best linked ski area in Europe. You can ski or board all day from lift to lift without stopping, and cover a lot of miles without queues. Some great circuits to follow: Le Fornet or the glacier and lunch in les Breviers. High altitude means you can always find powder throughout the season. Suits more advanced skiers but there is plenty of motorway skiing for the novice above Marmottes bar and up on the Grand pre. Some friendly bars around Le Lac and some lively nightlife if you want it.....Thumbs up to Tignes...
