Rauris is a small friendly town. Very good food at reasonable prices, plently of bars! and apres ski. Snow this year,(January 04) was good. Nursary slopes very easy with two drag lifts. Gondola lifts too middle and upper slopes-lots of snow with good blue runs and another gondola to the top where there was lots of deep snow and good runs down. Slopes are very suited to begginners and intermediate skiiers. There is a chair lift to the slopes on the other side of the town which has more challenging red routes. We went during a busy period yet there were no queues for the liftts-the longest we queued in the morning rush was less than 5 mins. Two ski schools in the town, Karl Maier and Adventure Rauris. Karl Maier instructors spoke very good english and were very professional. No experience with Adventure Rauris but they looked smart and seemed very proffesional when we saw them on the slopes. Both schools were really good with small children. Numerous bars on the mountain and an excellent restaurant at the middle station. We had a really good week and will certainly go back. We definatley recommend this resort for families. Crystal holiayss offer a very good package with accommodation, ski hire, lift passes etc included.
