Just back from Rauris; best holiday ever. A fab, even though very quiet resort. It was very friendly. Stayed at Kristal. Very disappointing, though rooms and location lovely. Lights were out when we arrived at 9pm and no meal was provided. Like other hotels, only a sandwich. Bar often in darkness and desolate. No activities for children. Could have done with some games or something. Food better at start of week but got quite boring. Adventure Rauris ski school not too successful for my family. 9 year old left after 2 days, crying as hated his teacher. A bit of a language problem I think and my husbands' teacher only spoke about 2 sentences of English all week. Would go again to Rauserhoff or St Hubertus because of the good location and try Karl Meir ski school through Crystal, or independently, as we went through Neilson. Apart from this, it is a fab place. Not many Brits there which is quite nice .

Stayed at the Hotel Kristall, food excellent, v.nice hotel, but would pay the extra £60 and stay at Rauriserhof, fantastic, spent several evenings there.
Skiing, I took a group of 29, all abilities, they all had a great time, snow rubbish, but that is unusual for this time of year, so they tell me & I bumped into many returning skiers who verified this. However nearly all runs open with snow machines & had good weeks skiing considering. Loads of off piste possibilities, even found a few with rubbish snow. The Toboggan run closed which was a real shame, looks really cool. Most of the group went into ski school (included in the price with Crystal) K.Maier ski school, can't speak highly enough of them. I've had many difficult years with French ski schools + young children & Austria seems to hit the button for everyone & K.Maier school was top notch. If you want a small friendly resort, real Austrian charm, goats & cattle in buildings of the town square, you will love it. The drinking/eating place at the base station, give it a miss for food, the mid station has a wonderful restaurant. The whole resort is cheap. Everyone speaks English. We will be going back. Did have problems with my 2yr old & their only child minder, she's good, but it's a small affair in her apartment & my girl did not like being the only one their on one of the days. If they are old enough, get them into ski school, pony rides, snow mobile rides, lots of fun will be had, my 5yr old shot away & I bumped into her up the mountain, mid week, wow, what a surprise to see her ski school group up there. Cheers John Jenner

Rauris is a lovely spot about an hour from Salzburg. In March it is quiet in the evenings and there are no queues for the lifts but the snow was excellent.. I stayed at the gasthof Brau which I cannot recommend enough for the rooms and the food and the welcome. It is not for expert skiers but as an improving intermediate I found there was enough to keep me going for a week , I would definitely return

Went to Rauris for the second time on 15 Jan 06 and had a grest time. The instructors were brilliant and the snow was great. We stayed in the Rauriserhof hotel again. This is a brilliant hotel, very high quality and really nice food. In my opinion it should be 5*!

Rauris is a fantastic place to learn to ski as Harry Maier and his team of instructors are first rate. My husband's skiing improves year by year and last January I had fun in the top group with Harry skiing in powder. We had such a good time last year we are about to head off yet again on Saturday for another week, meeting up with a group of people in our classes last year. We have stayed at The Kristall and The Alpina, both great hotels and this year we are in the Rauriserhof which should be good. If you are a fan of Rauris you may be interested in our wee fun website - www.raurisskigang.net - feel free to send us photos or post messages on our forum. Role on Saturday, line me up a beer in the Dies & Das, please!!

Went to Rauris ski resort on 17/12/2005 for the first time. We were absolute beginners but by the end of the week we were skiing down from the top station on more advanced runs. Our instructor(Roel) was great and gave us lots of confidence and we were able to have a good laugh aswell. The resort was beautiful and we ate in lots of lovely restaurants. We stayed at the Rauris apartments, they were very pleasant and perfectly located for what we wanted to do. We will definately be returning next year and probably for many years after that!

We've just come back from Rauris on 22/1/05. It was our first ski holiday and we only went after being nagged by the kids. Had a brilliant time, the best holiday we've ever had. Rauris is beautiful, the people are lovely and the ski-ing was great. Our instructor at the Karl Maier school was wonderful and we started out as complete beginners and ended up doing the lovely blue runs further up the mountain. He gave us confidence and we felt a real sense of achievement. We stayed at the Rauriserhof Hotel, the food was lovely and facilities excellent. Rauris was full of people who were back there for the second and third time and next year we'll be one of them, as we've just booked again for next January. Can't wait.

Just got back from Rauris 15.1.05. has a fantastic time, apart from breaking 2 ribs! Myself and my daughter have never skiied before, and we both loved it. My husband has skiied in france and italy, and agreed the resort was fantastic for families. Lots of lovely bars and restaurants in the village, reasonably priced. Local people are very friendly. Stayed at St Hubertus which has the best location in Rauris. we have already booked for January next year! Can't wait!
