Visitor Reviews of Popocatepetl
- El Pico de Orizaba from Mexico writes:
I live in Mexico City and love to ride my snowboard at the Popocatepetl Ski Resort on weekdays when it's not so crowded. But, on weekends, Ay Caramba!, watch out for the hordes of out of control hombres riding switch on the west facing slopes. This area has a fantastic vertical (better than Whistler-Blackcomb) and the view from close to the summit of Popo of Iztaccihuatl and of Paso de Cortez is a view unlike any other North American ski and snowboard resort can offer. Because the lift capacity is known to be numbero uno in Mexico, the lift lines are always short. The Popo Ski Patrol keeps the avalanche hazard to a minimum with their multi-port avalanche canons. The Popo Ski Patrol is one of the few in North America that uses avalanche rescue cats instead of avalanche rescue dogs. The Popo Ski Resort has a really good terrain park. The Mexican cuisine at the mountain village restaurants is fantastic. Many of the luxury hotels in the mountain village use natural hot springs for their spas and swimming pools. Overall, a five out of five star resort!
