South America’s 2025 Ski Season Gets Underway As Snowstorm Hits
Chile’s Valle Nevado is opening a little earlier than expected, this Friday 13 June. It’s the first in Chile and believed to be the first in South America to open for winter 2025.

Makov is a very small resort. It is ideal for beginners and children. We took our three young children and had a great time. The ski school was excellent and they soon gained confidence. We usually ski at nearby Velka Raca, but Makov made a nice change and the night skiing was good. Reasonable prices for ski pass and hire and a good cafe at the bottom. A good value place to start skiing.
