Whitefish (Whitefish Mountain Resort) is an undiscovered (by international standards) gem. Tree skiing all over, groomers, some open bowls but not extensive. Mostly an intermediate mountain - not much for beginners. Bigfoot T-bar was only open at weekends when I went (Feb 2009) which limits accessibility but means untracked freshies when it is open. Few crowds/lift lines - even at the weekend there was no more than a couple of minutes wait. Good eating all over the mountain - Hellroaring is the closest to a European apres ski bar I've come across in the US - whether that is good or bad depends on your own personal opinion, but I liked the atmosphere. Stay on the mountain or in the town (15 min. away by bus) - the town has a great feel to it with lots of bars & eateries. At the base, the Kandahar is aiming for the monied clientele: good grub but at a price; Bierstube more down to earth and basic but v good value. It is a bloody long way from Blighty but I intend to come back again.
