I have been to KG (Kranjska Gora) several times in the past three years; winter and summer. It's a lovely setting and the village gives it a bit of a resort feel. This is different to some other Slovenian resorts. Kranjska Gora is a good place for families with young kids who want to learn to ski. But, although it's the best known Slovenian ski resort and one which the tour operators (and those wanting to go to casinos) go to, it really isn't a patch on other resorts such as Krvavec or the Bohinj resorts of Vogel (or even Kobla or Soriska Planina). Sure KG will be more lively but the snow and variety of pistes (and off-piste) is a lot better in the Bohinj region, not to mention the scenery there which is breathtaking. When it's open the 8km run from the top of Vogel to the bottom or the run from the top of Kobla down to the bottom both knock spots off anything we've experienced in KG (Kranjska Gora).
