Glading Terrain Provides Firewood For Native American Tribes at Sun Valley
Developed in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, BLM and the National Forest Foundation’s Wood For Life Program; Sun Valley's glading reduces fire risk, improves forest health, and provides heating firewood to the Shoshone Bannock and Shoshone Paiute Tribes.

Idaho’s Sun Valley Resort was founded in 1936 as America’s first destination ski resort. This means the upcoming season is Sun Valley Resort's 90th, commencing on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, 2025.
This season, advanced skiers can explore new lines through 90 acres of newly gladed terrain as an expansion of the Bald Mountain Forest Stewardship project.
“Developed in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, BLM, and the National Forest Foundation’s Wood For Life Program, the project reduces fire risk, improves forest health, and provides heating firewood to the Shoshone Bannock and Shoshone Paiute Tribes, while also unlocking top-tier skiing opportunities,” a resort spokesperson said.
With over 350 acres of gladed terrain treated in prior years, Sun Valley has sought to position itself as a leading destination for advanced gladed skiing.
Skiers and riders can also expect some fun at Dollar Mountain this winter, as the bright and whimsical Dollar Adventure Park will make its debut, spicing up the mountain with fun and imaginative terrain park style features which will appeal to kids and adults alike.
