Easter Ski Holiday Bookings Up Fast As Restrictions Ease

Easter Ski Holiday Bookings Up Fast As Restrictions Ease

Easter ski holidays are reported to be booking up fast as countries ease restrictions on travel.

With most countries going in to lockdown in early March 2020, this Easter will be the first that ski slopes in countries including Austria, France and Italy have been open to skiers.

Some people who prefer to ski at Easter have actually held holidays booked for Easter 2020 twice, after being forced to miss last Easter too, to this Easter.

Others who booked earlier this season but then couldn’t reach the slopes due to lockdowns or other issues have also rebooked for Easter.

Then at the same time pent-up demand from two-years of lockdown is being released as the restrictions on travel appear to be easing rapidly, as are restrictions in resort.

“Easter is heaving, in fact the rest of the season is also heaving. Combination of deferrals from 2020 and lack of supply of catered chalets,” confirmed Nick Morgan, Managing Director of Le Ski.

Despite this Easter is looking a lot better than the imminent February half term holiday according to Richard Sinclair, boss of specialist ski holiday travel agency SNO.co.uk, who explains:

“There are lots more options at Easter because France was basically off-sale for a month, but you need to be quick as they’re booking fast.  It might look like an all-inclusive such as Club Med is two or three grand a head, but we’ve managed to get it down to barely half that for customers willing to self-drive, because it’s the flights that are in high demand.”

Currently the week from April 2nd is nearly booked up with many companies. The week from the 9th does have some availability but for the best remaining deals the advice is to look at April 16th or later.

“Bookings for this Easter are looking really good and we have people booked for the 2nd and 3rd weeks of April which hasn’t happened in 10 years for us in Morzine! Everyone who has stayed so far has absolutely loved it. Great snow, plenty of blue skies and people generally feeling the benefits of outdoor mountain therapy!” said Al Judge, Co-Founder and Co-Owner of AliKats Mountain Holidays.

One of the largest ski holiday travel companies, Inghams, have announced they’ve extended their season by a week to the 16th to try to cope with demand.
