Banff Sunshine Village in Alberta, Canada, has confirmed it will reopen for a fortnight of summer skiing, from this weekend.

Thanks to more than 10 metres of snowfall during the 2025/26 season (over 33 feet or roughly the height of a three‑storey building) Sunshine will offer 16 days of summer skiing from June 20 to July 5. The resort says the combination of exceptional snowpack and high elevation has made it possible to celebrate Canada Day on 1st July on skis.

“Back in June of 2022 when we opened for summer skiing, we saw such a positive response from our community. It was then that we decided, if we're ever presented with the opportunity to open for summer skiing in the future – we need to do what we can to make it happen,” said Kendra Scurfield, VP Communications at Banff Sunshine Village. “As a team, we're ecstatic about our upcoming summer ski season. Honestly, what's more Canadian than skiing in your cut off jean shorts on Canada Day?”

The Strawberry Express chairlift will run throughout the 16‑day window, with the Standish chair also operating initially and "as long as the snow lasts".

Along with ski runs reopening the resort has built a Summer Strawberry Terrain Park. Sunshine Mountain Lodge will also open for ski‑in, ski‑out summer stays beginning today, June 19.

The summer opening caps a record‑setting year for the resort, which logged its earliest opening in four decades on November 2, 2025, unveiled its new après venue The Goat Club, and hosted the North American debut of Red Bull Jump & Freeze.
