Construction of a new indoor snow centre appears to be making good progress at Heritage Farm in Wayne County, West Virginia.
First announced in 2024 and most recently listed as set to open last spring, Heritage Farm has given limited information on the status of the development, but there is now a website at snowoasis.com where skiers can register interest for updates, and an active social media presence.

The latter recently saw the first image of an indoor snow shape under construction posted, along with plenty of renderings of how it might look in use.
Heritage Farm first announced plans for their indoor-outdoor snowpark, the first of its kind in North America, in 2024. In a TikTok post the centre announced that the new facility would include an indoor snow park and an outdoor ski and tubing hill, open from October to April.

The indoor park will include snow play areas, ice slides, ice skating as well as tubing, skiing and snowboarding, the centre says.
According to the post, the park will allow visitors to ski, snowboard, ice skate and snow tube with real snow being produced in up to 70-degree weather.
“One of our main goals is teach all of our local school children and their families how to ski,” Audy Perry, executive director of Heritage Farm, told media at the time, “It’s a wonderful sport that multi-generations can do together once everyone has learned. We want to provide an opportunity for local students and their families to learn how to ski, snowboard and ice skate in a safe environment.”
There have been many plans for indoor snow centres across North America for more than three decades. The only indoor snow centre for skiing, Big Snow, part of the American Dream mall in New Jersey, was built in 2008 and finally opened in 2019. There’s also a second indoor snow area, but for tubing only, Pigeon Forge Snow in Tennessee.
Worldwide, IndoorSnowNews.com recently reported that more than 200 indoor snow centres have now been built in nearly 40 countries on six continents.
