Whistler is, without question, the best, period. I have snowboarded all over North America and no other resort even begins to compare. Size, terrain, breathtaking beauty, grooming, quality of services, hotels, food, nightlife, etc. They do it all very, very well. As far as cost goes, this is an expensive sport and I have found there to be very little difference in the cost of a one or two week snowboarding trip among various resorts.
I moved to Canada to snowboard 10 years ago and Whistler is a resort I barely visit. This is due to the overpricing. The price for 1 days riding is now touching $100! I agree with another reviewer; this place is for the rich and there is no hiding it. There are much better places in BC that are value for money with no crowding. OK to visit for a day on a road trip if you are visiting but unless you win the lottery you won't be staying for long.
snow:8/10
value:1/10
Whistler is for the wealthy. It's not a real "village": the resort owns the whole town so it is all carefully designed to extract money from visitors. Most workers & locals are forced by insane housing prices to commute from other towns like Squamish & Pemberton.
Prices are also very high on the hill & in the shops. And it isn't much consolation to know that much of your money is going to finance the debt that this place got itself into.
A real wannabe. OK, if you're wealthy and can afford a 2nd home up there. Poor value for everyone.
Without a doubt, hands down the best resort I have ever snowboarded. Whistler is brilliant, so much to do on and off the mountain. I rode here in 2008 and had powder days just about every day!!
The thing that is great about Whistler/BC is that it is so huge. You will never get bored riding here, and at the end of the day you have so much to do, providing you still have the energy!. The village is set up brilliantly and you can walk everywhere so no car needed, the shopping is great and you can get any snowboard gear you could ever want. The cool thing about Whistler is that it has the glitz to some extent but doesn't feel like it has completely sold out to the celeb style of living that places like Aspen have, which I can't stand!
Lift lines are bad in the morning as everyone piles into the gondolas but once you are up the mountain the chair lines were not long at all.
If I could only pick one place to snowboard at for the rest of my life it would be Whister/BC.

Visited Whistler in 2008 and going back this year.
The resort is amazing with so much terrain and skiing for all abilities.
The kids loved the ski school and the accommodation was reasonably priced and fantastic quality. Eating out for every budget and can honestly say that we didn't have a bad meal.
It is a long flight so is worth staying at Whistler for 11 nights to get over the jet lag.
Whistler is huge, with fantantic terrain, but there is one big problem - the snow. The base elevation is too low, so rain is common on the lower mountain. Also, the proximity to the Pacific makes the snow heavy. Yes, you can ski high on the mountain where the temps are colder and the snow more reliable, but then you sacrifice the big vertical, which is the drawing card at Whistler. And who wants to walk around the village and ride the lifts up in the rain? I'll go to Utah or Wyoming instead.
Came to Whistler to work for the winter. It's a cool place and has great boarding and a 'sick' park setup. Plus there's always a good night out any night of the week.
Whistler was completely the best family vacation ski resort ever. There is so much to do and so much entertainment and shopping. We will definitely be going to Whistler every year for our family ski trips. If you are looking for great accommodation do as we did and book with Whistler Resorts Now. They had so many options for accommodation, it truly put the icing on the cake on top of all that Whistler has to offer.
Straight up, I think this place (Whistler) is the awful. Even with one of the worst snow years yet the park is legit right now and it's common to be 'Whistler - Vegas' on snow.
