I recently spent 2 weeks in Thredbo Skiing and - after having skied in both Europe and North America - was deeply impressed! Lovely village atmosphere, great runs with an impressive infrastructure for a rather small resort! We brought along our 2 children (6 and 4 years old) for their first ski adventure, and they truly enjoyed the very professional and child minded teaching at Thredboland. They are already bugging me to return to Thredbo asap...
I have skied every snow resort in Australia and Thredbo is the best resort in Australia by far with the longest runs, most vertical, deepest snow, and the best nightlife. Any other resort is only two thirds the vertical at the most, and the Victorian resorts receive and hold less snow than Thredbo - even in bad seasons. If you want to ski Australia, ski Thredbo!
I'll be back this year 2004 after experiencing snow for the first time last year. I am hooked on Thredbo as my get away from it all holiday ?. Totally exhausted after 7 days of not very well skeing the slopes. The exceptional hospitality at the Black Bear Inn made it necessary to rebook this establishment and we are looking forward to catching up with Helen, Allan and crew.
Thredbo is one of the worst ski resorts in the world. But if you must ski in Australia come here. There are long and steep runs, but they are only good when the snow is good. There is alot of snow making which is a plus! Do not go to any other resort in NSW. A better option is Mt. Hotham, which is in Victoria.
