Located in Eastern Arizona and about a 4 hours drive from Phoenix, Sunrise offers the most terrain in Arizona. There is limited snowmaking, on the main peak, but the resort has purchased 10 new snow guns this year. When conditions are good, meaning a natural snow base of 48 inches or more, skiers of all skills will be able to find terrain of their liking. The resort needs major upgrades in chairlift capacity, tree skiing and snowmaking to compete with other resorts in the region.

If you happen to be visiting Arizona / Texas midwest USA I would recommend paying this place a visit. The Apache native American owner operators are super accommodating, the nearby town of Show low is very affordable with good eats / bars and not overly touristy, lift ticket only sting you $50 / day. For 2 years in a row I have visited in January and the snow has been of a better (drier, powdery) quality than in neighbouring (expensive) Colorado!! The night skiing is great and in summer the downhill mntn bike trails are amazing..not for the faint hearted...
