Jan 2010 will be our fourth trip back to Söll in 3 years, just love the place. Miles of skiing, so much so we have not covered it all yet. Only ever had one day when we couldn't ski as the slopes were closed due to very high winds. Quality of the runs are near perfect and there never seems to be much of a queue for the lifts. Have skiied Germany, France, Italy, Bulgaria & Andorra and Söll tops the lot so far.
Stayed each time at the Hotel Gansleit just on the edge of town. Fantastic place run by Steve (English) & Rosi (Austrian) and Rosi's parents Hans & Anni. Very friendly and helpful people. Steve will take you out for a good run, free of charge, a couple of days during the week so you don't need to refer to any maps, just enjoy the skiing. 1000% recommended.
Feb 2010 will be my 3rd consecutive year visiting Söll for the annual ski trip. Soll is brilliant, and although me and my ski mate spent considerable time last month reviewing lots of resorts in Austria, Italy and France, we arrived at the conclusion, that for our main criteria - size of area, number of runs, amount of cannon coverage, transfer time to resort, price, and accessibility to the slopes, Söll was still the best overall package. The skiing has been fab last 2 years, this year (feb 09) we experienced major snowfall for 5 days so skiing was bit restricted due to lack of visibility, but last year (feb 08) we had fantastic sunshine and brilliant skiing. There are 90 odd runs in the ski area (called the skiwelt). Few testing blacks though but many challenging reds which keep you focused. We stayed first time around in the lodge mounty - Nielsons lodge. It was ok, functional and good food but a bit basic and rough round the edges and a walk from the town centre. This year we stayed at Modlinger Sport which was much "posher" and closer to the town. We're staying there next time too. Good ski shop to use is Snow and fun which is accessed via skiset.co.uk. They have no queues as the travel reps all take their guests to another shop. Result. You can store skis and boots at the lockers just down from the Gondola for about 7 euros a week. There are loads of mountain bars where you can eat or get a beer and all reasonably priced. Recommend a ski over to Westendorf to get the new gondola to the top. Spectacular ride and great skiing back down! Overall Soll is tops. Recommended 100% Go see Kristian in Dolce vita bar in town. Nice bloke and top bar if you don't like having to shout at everyone all night over loud music!!
My wife and I took our teenage daughters to Söll for a week in March 2009. This was our first time there, having been to Bulgaria previously. What a fantastic week! The seemingly endless SkiWelt runs were a dream to ski and we will be there again for another week in a few days time (19-26 December 2009). In March we stayed at the Hotel Tulpe. I wish we could have found a deal to stay there again this year. It is right on the bottom of the beginner slope so accessing the day's skiing was dead easy. We will be staying at the Hotel Faistenauer this time, which is in Söll itself. I am looking forward to the week's skiing even though we are not right on the slopes.
Skied in Skiwelt area last year and was really impressed by the developments there - even the restaurant at the top has escalators down to the loos so no more stairs in ski boots. It's a few years since I've skied in Austria and the area is very good. Stayed in Hotel Austria in Soll on a half board basis and the food was excellent. The skiing conditions and hotel impressed us so much that we have booked to go back to Soll and Hotel Austria again this year
The SkiWelt area, including Soll, continues to improve every year we go back and now the whole Kitzbühel area can be included on the same lift pass which is just fab. Where else do you get heated seats on the lifts? Don't forget the amazing toboggan run for evening entertainment or just carry on skiing under the lights.

I am going back to Soll for the first time for a few years on the 31st. I can't wait to see it again, and see if any changes can match Heidi in Pub15 in the mid 90's - I'll let you know.

I first went to Soell (Soll) in 1995 with a group of 7 back in the days of pub 15 "what a place" and returned for the next three seasons. By this time it was a group of nearly 30 friends whom had met in Soell (Soll) over the years.
From 1999 till 2005 we decided to give some other places a try including Bulgaria, Andorra, Italy and France which all had their good and bad points but never came close to Soell (Soll) and the skiwelt so Jan 2005 we returned and haven’t looked back since as the Ski area is vast and find a new little gem every year and the nightlife is fantastic with live music every night and late night discos/clubs if you fancy it.
But with all this going on Soell (Soll) has still managed to maintain its Austrian village feel with fantastic buildings, a wonderful gold clad church and scenery to die for.
All in all Soell (Soll) is a great place to spend a skiing holiday with friends or family and I don’t think I will ever go anywhere else as it has it all.
Have skied in most of the countries in Europe but keep coming back to Soll. This year will be my 26th visit to this village. The skiing is dependent on the quality of snow but the Skiwelt area is so extensive there is always good skiing available somewhere and all the main runs are serviced with a large number of snow cannons. The village of Soll has a postcard quality and has a full range of activities to suit all ages. We have stayed on many occasions at the Hotel Greil in the village and cannot say enough to recommend a stay in this family run hotel
First time in Austria and first time skiing..booking up immediately to return next year. Stayed @ pension Mirabell & made extremely welcome. Lovely village, great bars and restaurants. Stunning scenery, great skiing for all levels. Roll on 2009
