Have just had a great family holiday in Sainte Foy.
This is our second trip to Sainte Foy. Initially, could not get my head around booking a ski trip to a resort with only 4 main lifts and only one of them a modern fast 6 man chair. However, for a family ski holiday, especially with little children, Sainte Foy is ideal! The area is small, but there is difficult skiing, but also easy skiing for beginners.
We are skiing in the New Year peak week and there are queues, but none too long, and the pistes are not crowded compared to what I have experienced in larger resorts. Also there is quite a relaxed atmosphere on the pistes, if you are skiing poorly, so what!
If you are going on a blokes ski trip, do not go to Sainte Foy. There are many larger resorts which will suit you better!
Have skied for 35yrs across all the Euro resorts you care to mention. St Foy is different and will suit if you want a high quality place, lovely peaceful skiing, and we have 3 young kids where they loved the place. The off-piste, if you catch the snow right, is magic but I can understand people without off-piste ability saying the piste area is limited, that's true. I went to A, teach my kids B, do some fantastic powder in between and it's top class for both of those. If you have a 13 yr old to tear around with and you are a mainstream piste skier - stick to the mainstream resorts.
Going back again says it all!
Just back from another unforgettable week in Sainte Foy - our second trip this season!
Obviously, busier in late February than in January, but even still, the queues are a fraction of those we've found elsewhere at half-term.
A thoroughly charming resort, fantastic for kids, great creche with Premiere Neige for our youngest, and the usual uncrowded pistes that we've come to love. Safe and accessible off-piste for our more adventurous teenagers too.
Our passes gave us a discount at Tignes, Val and Les Arcs, but unless you'd rather spend your whole week in a queue, then why leave Sainte Foy?!
Amazing week.
Just back from Sainte Foy.
Feedback:
* quiet, friendly
* excellent ski school for kids our son can now ski with us and he's 5
* childcare with premiere neige top quality
* good quality restaurants not too expensive
* off piste accessible for average skiers
Will we go back? Pb not.
* v limited actual runs so if you don't like off-piste you can ski the resort in a day
* lacked European feel, you could get by with no French at all
* despite being great for kids, we found people lacked manners on the piste, eg stopping right across the piste and skiing out of control, which was however offset by lack of crowds
* there ARE queues but nothing like in the huge resorts
We would really recommend this resort for families who are learning and want a relaxing holiday
Ste Foy much improved since the opening of the Bouquetin Boogie, probably the best Disco in the Alps. Otherwise, the place is getting a bit too busy so if anyone prefers industrial skiing in charmless corporate resorts overrun by gobby Brits then please steer away.

Sainte Foy rocks..just got back from a fantastic week. Can not wait to go back. I have skied most of the large European ski resorts and St. Foy has to be one of the best..size is not everything.
It makes me laugh that anyone could post a negative comment about Sainte Foy, but hey, if you don't like it that's fine by us, stick to your motorway resorts and your 7 euro plate of 10 chips.
Sainte Foy is the jewel of the Alps, I love it, and I'm going back for my 5th visit.
Nuff said.
Sainte Foy is a great place with something for everyone, except lift queues, overpriced rubbish food, and packed ski runs! The nursery slopes and easy green and blues are ace for the little ones, there are some lovely intermediate cruising runs, and for experts there really is no limit, pick your line and lap up the powder days after a snowstorm. We stay at Chalet Sherlock in Maison Dessous which is bookable through the tourist office, it is a beautiful Savoyard chalet with amazing views and great value too. Tres Belle!!
Cannot believe the negative remarks, we are heading back for the fourth year in a row next Friday and cannot wait!! Best the doom-mongers stay away me thinks?
Cannot believe I have read negative reports of Sainte Foy, what a fantastic place. Have just come back from a week over New Year. No lift queues, no over priced restaurants & fantastic skiing for all abilities. Heard many people say that once you have been there you will never go anywhere else, 100% agree.
