Went to Club Med Sahoro in March 2013, for 1st ski trip, with 5 1/2 year old. Loved every second of it. Everything is easy; ski lessons, other kids to play with, easy food, ski in/out & build snowmen right outside door. Also have hot tub, indoor pool, toboggan etc. It is not the full European or USA experience but if you are looking for an easy skiing trip with young ones then this is the place to be. Last year I took my son by myself & it was easy. There were no queues, not even once and the slopes were nicely groomed with abundant snow. Heading there again in late Feb this year! Probably try somewhere different when he gets to 8 years old or so, but for now this is perfect.

Disagree with the comments from another reviewer. We've been skiing at Sahoro five times and going again this Christmas. The resort has two hotels including the Club Med. The Club Med is fairly large and self contained with restaurants and bar plus indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. Lots of families and activities for kids. Ski in/ski out. Ski area itself is not huge but on the other hand the infrastructure was set up for up to eight hotels, not two, so you'll hardly need to queue for lifts even in peak weeks like Christmas. Instructors available in English and Japanese and we've found most are good. Compared to Niseko and Furano, they are better for adults and advanced skiers in my experience and I go there when skiing with friends, but I prefer Sahoro when I take my family.

Can ski the whole resort in three hours, ski instruction hit or miss depending on language or instructor. Very expensive, avoid times when the French international schools are off (unless you are a cheese eating surrender monkey). Snow very good but the hotel is out of the seventies. Single glazing in the rooms and mattresses on the floor for the kids. Won't be returning. Sean

Absolutely brilliant. According to my husband (the heli-skier), Sahoro Resort has the best snow he has ever skied on and he's skied all over. However, not challenging for extreme skiers. For a complete beginner (me) and intermediates (my children aged 13 and 10) it doesn't get any better. From the instructors to the lessons to the facilities to... just everything is pretty much perfect. Do it! We are going again next month, 4th year running.

The ClubMed is a great base for family skiing. The slopes are ideal for beginners (adults and kids) as the beginners slope is long and wide. The hotel is ski-out and ski-in. The cable car queues for the more advanced skiers are short and the powder is great (it tends to open the weekend about the 13th December onwards and it is not controlled by ClubMed. Be cautious with when you go as the good snow arrives mid (2007) to late December (2008) and before that it is icy on the lower (junior slopes). See you there from 4th Jan 2011 :) Andy

Winter season - March 09 A smaller resort, Sahoro Resort slopes groomed to perfection were uncrowded; the hotel guests are the only skiers and snowboarders you are going to see there. The locals were using the lifts on weekends, however, this was no problem. The hotel staff (including skiing instructors) provide exceptional service. Sahoro Resort is great value for money. The hotel has a large indoor swimming pool, gym, spa, outdoor Canadian bath - so you will never run out of activities. Skiing is Sahoro is great. Whatever you prefer: groomed, off-piste, powder or challenging moguls Sahoro Resort has it.
