Kandatsu Kogen (the parent company has changed - formally Pine Ridge Resorts Kandatsu) is a good place to go for families and beginners. It's set in a bowl that has all the runs return to 1 central point. The main slope is very wide, so good for beginners to find their snow feet on. The resort is very small though and for more advanced riders, it will become repetitive, pretty quickly. The ungroomed slopes are fun when the snow was a deep and light as it was last Wednesday. The Yuzawa area gets great snow cover and as this is a bowl, it can be protected from the wind when other bigger and higher resorts in the area are getting closed down due to high winds. Its also a good place for Night skiing if you are in the area, near to town and pretty quiet for some turns under the stars.
