Nendaz is located within the 4 valleys but the connecting lifts are somewhat underdeveloped. To get from Nendaz to the other valleys required a button lift, not good for boarders.
Do watch out for prices in the Canadian bar. At 7.00 p.m.on a week day i.e not late at night, we were charged 32 francs for 2 large Heiniken and 1 large Murphies. We later learned that the correct price was a lot less. They seem to make up the prices according to how naive they perceive the customer to be.

Nendaz was absolutely outstanding. We had a family holiday for me and my wife and 2 children (10+4 years old) in December 2010.
The skiing and the resort people were very friendly and welcoming with everything geared for the skiing and snow sports.
The apartment we were in was a private agreement with people who let us have their family apartment, which was absolutely outstanding, everything you would have dreamed about.
There was a very good travel system available in Nendaz and excellent places to eat out, bearing in mind when you have been on the slopes all day you don't feel like going far.
Supermarkets and the local butchers were excellent and the people on the town were very welcoming, couteous and helpful.
We hired the skis in the town and the shop staff and owner (Intersport) we hired from were so helpful and supportive we could have not wished for a nicer holiday. Thanks to everyone at the shop.
The ski lifts were so easy to use and the views were just absolutlety outstanding with loads of snow and skiing.
I love photography and took some absoluteley outstanding photos which are to die for.
The slopes were in excellent condition and I have to say we paid for private tuition which was absolutely fantastic. The instructor (Jaques) was a gem worth every Swiss franc. He had the patience of a saint and nothing was too much trouble. Within 20 mins he had my family skiing and completing some excellent moves, thanks again.
My family had never skied before but this chap soon got them up and going which was excellent to observe, thanks again for your patience.
Would recommend the 4 valleys to any person requiring some quality skiing and hopefully this will be repeated next year. Can't wait.
We spent a lot of the time up at Siviez which is superb with a restaurant and also a free shuttle bus from outside the ski lift at Nendaz which again was brilliant.
Overall, we had a fantastic time and will return again this year for hopefully another great holiday and really looking forward to it. Can not wait.

My wife and I have been going to Nendaz for over ten years. We love the place so much we now have a chalet in Saclentce, surrounded by Swiss people who have welcomed us into their community and treat us how they wish to be treated. We try to speak French and they help us when we struggle. Similarly, shop workers, bar and restaurants owners and workers without exception are friendly, courteous and helpful. Nendaz, as a resort has everything, not glitzy but efficient and effective. It is a winter and summer resort that can be used by people who self drive or rely on public transport. Equipment hire is extensive and professional using up to date gear. Patience is a virtue of the ski and boot fitters. Bars are plentiful, I can think of twenty immediately. Apres is not like Austria but there is plenty of it. Live music is available in several bars. There are at least fifteen restaurants that offer food from around the world. If you want gourmet it is available at Savi, Mont Rouge, Toko. There are nightclubs if that is what you want.
The availibility of top class skiing is a well kept secret. My experience of the Four Valleys is; if the conditions are suitable the pistes are well groomed. Snow shoeing is widespread. If you are in a French speaking area expect to speak French. Treena has a lovely warm and friendly lounge bar Toko, which is a magnet for English speakers and sports lovers. The chef, Paco is brilliant, well worth a try.
Nendaz is always worth a try.
Haute Nendaz is a great area but has really lazy piste groomers. The slopes are a mess and not groomed like they are in good resorts. The area and views are great. Restaurants are poor with the exception of the Hotel Mont Fort(superb value) and Mont Rouge-pricey but worth every franc.
I am recently back from our first trip to Nendaz and have mixed views. The area is nothing short of stunning and we were lucky to have great snow with bright blue skies and sunshine. However, here's the rub. The pistes were poorly maintained and only seemed to be smoothed over once in the week; who has ever heard of a mogul blue run? I have never seen so many accidents in a week of skiing. That said, the slopes were great to ski on when the grooming machine had been at work with plenty for a moderate level skier such as myself. However, I would not recommend it for beginners.
I found the links to the other valleys were OK but there were just too many poor skiers towards Verbier and I had two minor incidents in an hour before heading back to the relative safety of Nendaz.
I shall be going back to Avoriaz next year.
I own a chalet in Nendaz and spend weekends up in the mountains: The ski area is poorly linked to Verbier. An ancient button lift and irregular cable car are required to go over to Siviez. Parking in Siviez is hopeless in season.
As for the town, restaurants have poor service, are over-priced and lack variety. Furthermore a smelly garage is in the middle of the town which ruins the atmosphere.
Service in the shops is an introduction to rudeness if you do not speak French. Overbuilding has happened due to greedy developers and corruption with tired and run down apartment blocks polluting the place.
A shame that the place has been allowed to become so neglected. It has great potential for skiing and is close to Geneva with great snow and a super skiing area.
I live in Nendaz with my family. We operate a B&B Bar & Restaurant and Club. The town is great, its got loads to offer and is growing year on year. What we love is that it isn't packed. You feel the space and freshness of the mountains. It's great for families or Groups!!! One of the most beautiful things about Nendaz is that wherever you are you can see the mountains around you unlike some other resorts. The lift system is very efficient and the ski terrain is so diverse you can happily spend everyday at a different location. There are plenty of restaurants and Bars as previously mentioned; Cactus Canadian, but lets not forget Malabar, all pink and a zebra skin is sooo funky, Le Forum, Le Mazot, Man Down, and of course my modern & contemporary Lounge Bar "Toko Lounge". Nendaz is packed with swiss charm, the primary language you hear is French and that's what should happen when you are on Holiday in a foreign country isn't it?
This year Nendaz has several new attractions - Husky Sledging - Burton Freeride Park - The first in Europe
Nendaz also holds many World events like the Snowboard FIS World Cup on 16th December and the King of Mont Fort on Jan 31st.
Carnival(Feb) is a great time to be in Nendaz. It's magical, with torch lit mountain decents and street bands and parties, parapenters with fireworks and an abundance of Vin Chaud!
Want to discover something New??
Then check out www.nendaz.ch and experience it all for yourself. Hope to see you this winter.

I have been to Nendaz twice and have enjoyed it both times! Its not your super cool resort like Verbier or St Anton, but it has its own coolness. The resort is quiet and has a friendly Swiss charm but still has the odd drinking hole for those looking for some nightlife. Cactus Cantina is a great hangout for a beer after a day on the slopes. The food is great too ! Nendaz is one of the cheapest resorts in Switzerland which has access to excellent skiing. It's situated in the 4 Valleys with Verbier. You can ski all day and not do a run twice. There is loads on offer. There are even decent blue runs for beginners, and also great black runs. Tortin and the Mont Fort are especially great if you are looking for a mogul thrill ! The 2 downsides about Nendaz are the fact that the resort is mostly in the shade (unlike Verbier) and it's a bit of a mission to get to the good skiing in Verbier. If you are happy to hop on a bus for 20 minutes and catch a few chair lifts and gondolas before your first run of the day - then you will be fine. I can also recommend a great little hotel recently renovated and situated right at the bottom of the run down into Nendaz. You can't get a better location with friendlier owners and a comfy room and bed. http://www.lesetagnes.ch/

Check this place out if you want the best skiing and quiet nights in.
We have been to Nendaz for the last two years in January and stayed in a friends chalet. The town is mainly residential with a few hotels. The town centre is well served with supermarkets and about 6 bars. The only bar that is of any size is the Canadian bar, that can get quite lively (ish!)
There are some good restaurants on the main street. As mentioned, you wouldn't go there for the night life but the skiing is another matter!!
There are lifts or a courtesy bus up through Super Nendaz to Siviez (main station.) Bus takes 5mins. Both are very reliable (thats the swiss for you!)
Once in Siviez I recommend you get a full area pass (6 days approx £150.00)
This opens up the four valleys region that includes Verbier. Siviez has its own area with some fab runs (and the best on- piste restaurant at the top of the Combatseline chair) which if you are a beginner is adequate, but you are missing out if you dont go 'over the top'. Take either the Mont-Fort cable car or Plan-du-Fou bubble to get across to this side.
Ski down to Verbier for lunch and on the way back have a go at Mont-Fort, it's a great run from the highest point in the area, not for the faint hearted!
You can't stay for the apres in Verbier 'cos the last lifts back are at 4.30.
This is the biggest downside as Nendaz isn't exactly buzzing (although it does get busier during the Swiss hols.)
All the lifts are great, the area went under a major facelift about 3 years ago and is state of the art, the skiing is some of the best in Europe, and we've always had great weather.
Getting there is a breeze, Fly to Geneva, get the train from the airport to Sion (you can set your watch by it, cost £45.00) Then get one of the regular buses up to Nendaz (1/2hour) to your acommodation. This is by far the best & easiest skiing you will have without going through an operator.
