Nara is a small winter sports resort in Italian speaking Canton Ticino in southern Switzerland.
It's a very good place to spend a day or a weekend in a friendly environment. Despite its small size and the limited choice of pistes for the experienced skier, it has something for the whole family, including kids and non skiers. A snow park with a halfpipe is available and a 5 km long track reserved to sledges, it's something that very few resorts can offer in the southern Alps. I tried it after a day and half skiing and it was real fun, with my little daughter running even faster than me in good safety. Sledges can be hired locally and brought up the upper chair lift that serves both ski and sledge pistes. It's worth mentioning that prices are proportional to the resort size and that a couple of restaurants and bars provide good food just on the side of pistes...
Less than two hours driving distance from Milano (Italy) makes Nara a good choice if you live in that area.
Last but not least, Nara hosts the Telemarkada, a meeting and telemark festival organized yearly by Telemark Club Ticino (that's how I discovered Nara).
