Alpine and snowboarding
Hafjell skicentre is the site of the 1994 Olympic Slalom and Giant Slalom events, just 15 minutes from Lillehammer. Since much of the alpine facility is located below the timberline, the facility offers excellent protection again wind, and all of 75% of the alpine facility is covered by artificial snow-making equipment. Families with children are especially welcome at Hafjell - this family-friendly centre offers a unique children's play area, where parents can take advantage of excellent baby-sitting and child care services. Hafjell also has some of Norway's longest slopes: 5,5 kilometres continuous skiing in blue and red slopes. The Snowboard Park, which has been designed by the world's best snowboarders, is also extremely popular.
There are ski buses running to and from Lillehammer to Hafjell ski centre.
