Not been out personally this season yet, but will be in Les Houches on 3rd Jan for the Anglo Scottish cup (races). My daughter was in Les Houches on Saturday for a few hours skiing on the way to Tignes for a few days, then back to Les Houches. Her comments were "awesome, beats Hintertux (Austria) six weeks ago by god knows..", then she put the phone down. My guess is, as a British racer, she is glad to back in a fab place to ski and train. See you in Le Relax D'Esprite (Freds Bar for the English) in four weeks time.
Just back from yet another week based in Les Houches, this time for the British Ski Academy's Interschools Ski Championships. Snow for the two race days was fantanstic. Monday 13th March: For the GS held on Col de Voza: Temp -13c, snow soft, weather sunny. Tuesday 14th: Slalom held on Grand Bois: Temp -8c, snow soft to firm, weather sunny. All week snow in Les Houches was generally good. Much better than the same week last season when we were experiencing spring conditions towards the end of the week. Roll on PSV and the English National Championships from 2nd April!!
Just returned from a weekend at Les Houches and the conditions are perfect(90cm lower, 240cm upper). Hardly anyone on the perfectly pisted slopes which makes for "Millionaire Skiing", absolutely unbelievable. The tree lined pistes make it very pretty, the views of Monte Blanc and the surrounding mountains are massive and breathtaking.

Just returned after 6 days clear blue skies, wonderfully cold and not a breath of wind on the hill. Runs well covered, but could have benefitted from fresh snow (not a single flake fell!) As a beginner, I was very pleased with LH and enjoyed the esf tuition (great value at 105 euros for 6 x 1/2 days). Friendly resort, laidback and quiet at this time of year. Because it is a low altitude resort, there is a wonderful mix of trees and pistes, very attractive. Also several restaurants that non-skiers can get to, whether by bubble lift or tramway. Looking forward to exploring more of the Mont Blanc valley as my skiing improves over the years!

I have skied and enjoyed many resorts but I was not impressed with Les Houches. The infrastructure was not as good as expected and the prices of meals was a touch high. However my two children enjoyed themselves but I prefer a more established resort such as Tignes. 4 out 10.
Les Houches is completely open. All runs to the village are open. There is 35cms base at valley level and 1m up top. Powder snow with crust. Little or no ice. Some of the best skiing in the Chamonix Valley at the moment! More snow forecast for second half of next week :-)
Visit out website: www.skiers-lodge.co.uk for comfortablecatere chalet accommodation. We're right located right on the World Cup Downhill piste!
If a professional boarder like steve winston-adair says les houches is good - its very good. I have watched his career on the circuit closely and he should know what he is talking about. Iam boarding there this weekend - bring on the powder!
*** Saturday 26th November *** Les Houches partially opened. The first area in the Chamonix Valley to do so!! The Maisonneuve Chairlift is open giving access to the Kandahar Downhill piste. There is wonderful fresh powder! A special reduced price lift pass is available for 15 euros per day.

02/02/2005.Conditions are excellent in Les Houches. All runs are open and almost no lift queues. Lots of powder. Note that when the ski world cup circuit visits Chamonix, its actually the slopes at Les Houches that are used. The Verte Kandhar is used for the mens downhill and its a lovely run down to the village.
Located in the Chamonix Valley, just 10 minutes from central Chamonix, Les Houches has a good choice of varied ski-ing mostly between the treeline.
Ideally suited for beginners, intermediates and mixed family groups with the added benefit of some good off-piste powder between the trees.
Current conditions on 24/12/04 are 30cm/70cm packed snow with more forecast for this weekend. All runs to the village are open.
