We love Les Arcs. The resort has a huge variety of terrain and pistes. We've been skiing here for 10 years and never get bored. If we do get the urge to explore we take a day out and within an hour be skiing in Tignes, Val D'Isere, Les Rosiere/La Thuile. There are some great mountain restaurants like La Fumee. We stay in the village of 1950 which is delightful, great for kids and has a wide choice of restaurants. The bowling alley/sports bar in 2000 is a fun evening out if you've still got the energy after dinner. We can't recommend the resort highly enough and we've skied all over the world..only Whistler comes close.
Having stayed at Le Loissel, Villaroger for the past 8 years you can tell that we love Les Arcs as it has something for everyone. The beautiful unspoilt village of Villaroger is where we start our day from, free parking and no queues and then access Les Arcs where are 2 young boys love to head to the Snow Park and Boarder Cross in Arcs 1600 and Arcs 2000. Us parents love the tree lined skiing and finishing the day doing the 7km long run back to Villaroger from the top of the Aiguile Rouge. A well earned beer in La Ferme Villaroger with the roaring log fire is the best way to end the day before heading back to the Chalet. We will once again be heading there for New Year and are currently here (12th Dec 2011 ) enjoying an early season trip, with great conditions and deserted pistes!
I have been taking groups to Vallandry in Les Arcs for the past 15 years and totally love the place. Perfect for beginners as the summer road (blue run) comes directly back to the hotel. Take guide and go off the back of the Auguille Rouge and you get some of the best off-piste skiing in the Alps!
Have just booked to go back to Les Arcs 1950 for the 5th year. Its got to be the best resort in France for February Half-term skiing, or any skiing if you're lucky enough not to have to go in school holidays.
So many runs to cover and we still haven't yet made it across to Le Plagne! We have always described it as "If Disney did skiing, it would be 1950", and then last year a local described it to us like this. It's beautiful, car free, loads of mountain to ski on, great atmosphere in the town, very family friendly. We love it and cannot wait to go back in 2012.
Stayed at Les Arcs on 2 occasions. In general provides excellent value skiing, in a snowsure resort. Mix of resorts provide something for everyone, value family accommodation and more upmarket accommodation at Arc1950
Overall, great value for money and some of the best skiing in Europe.
Snowing this morning after snow on Monday night. Some great powder skiing out there if you stay up high.
They've been bringing in skiers from other resorts to Les Arcs by bus, which says it all. Les Arcs is the best place for spring skiing and if you can get a good deal I'd recommend you stay at Arcs 1950. It is a cut above most accommodation in France and rivals Courchevel for atmosphere and apres-ski.
Enjoy the snow while it lasts!
After spending many years skiing in places such as Val D'Isere , St Anton, Chamonix, Serre Chevalier etc I had a week's holiday at a friends place in Villaroger (small village linked to Les Arcs) and was hooked. The area comprises a massive amount of varied terrain for all abilities and never seems to get over crowded or too busy even at peak times and bank holidays. There are many great restaurants across the area and if you stay in Arc 1600 you also have Bourg-St-Maurice on your door step only a funicular railway ride of around 7 minutes away which has some of the best restaurants in the Alps at very cheap prices.....in fact Les Arcs and the surrounding area had such an impact on me I purchased an apartment in Bourg-St-Maurice in 2003.
I have yet to meet anyone who has visited the area and never enjoyed their time......in fact, some have gone for just a week's skiing and have fell under it's spell, and never gone home.
I stayed in Les Arcs for the last 2 months. Jan/Feb 2011.
Based down in Bourg St Maurice at an amazing Hostel called Loft [www.loftbourg.com] Had the best time in both Bourg and up in the mountains.
The snow this season has been pretty poor with no real dumps since the beginning of January but Les Arcs held what it had very well and I wasn't disappointed.
Great variety of runs from beginners to experts. Great night life both up and down the mountain. Just remember that the last funicular down is at 9pm.
My favourite run was probably Derby but also spent alot of fun times in the park.
On the days it did drop enough snow to go off piste, I had the best times and the variety of things to do kept me busy every day for 2 months.
Highly recommended resort and will be going back again.

This was our fifth stay at Les Arcs 1950. We go as a family and the kids love it. We drive down from London, arrive pm on Saturday and rent skis from Intersport at Arc 2000 from the shop at the front - very quick, great staff - much better than the 1950 options which are more expensive. We tend to self cater and shop at Bourg St Maurice on the way up. However, the restaurants are fine and cater for a range of tastes. With children, eating out becomes expensive - hence the self catering.
The apartments are excellent and the views outstanding. There can be some late night noise if your apartment faces into the village, but so far it has never been a real issue.
The skiing is dependable and the slopes well maintained. This year it was icy buy there were plenty of places where we found fresh powder - Grand Col is the best place to go - not many people and plenty of options for the more adventurous.
The trip up to Aigille Rouge is a must although the wait can be long - its 7km to Villaroger and as long as the snow is OK, it is a good run.
We will probably go again as the children like the familiarity of the resort - in five years we are still discovering new challenges, but most of these are now off-piste - short in most cases, but great fun.
I stayed in 1950 (Les Arcs) and it was the best holiday of my life! You can ski in and ski out of the village. There are amazing restaurants within 5-10 minutes walking distance and the shop is within 2 minutes walking distance. The ski slopes are great and the views are stunning.
