Chile’s famous Portillo ski resort is reported to have re-opened to guests arriving by helicopter after being cut off by road for more than two weeks by over 6m/20 feet of snowfall.

Discriminación, ordinariez y uso abusivo de la concesión. Con mi hijo pequeño fuimos al centro de ski Lagunillas, con la intención de que él pudiera conocer la nieve, jugar y tirarse en trineo. Sin embargo, el personal que ahí trabaja no permite el libre tránsito de personas, pese a que el cerro y la nieve son bienes nacionales, le cobran entrada incluso a los peatones, y no permiten el uso de trineos, aduciendo supuestos "motivos de seguridad" y amparándose en su cuestionable "concesión". Además, la gente que ahí trabaja es sumamente prepotente y mal educada. Tienen a un brasileño muy ordinario a la entrada, el cual no para de fumar, y que además es chouvinista y discriminador porque da un trato preferencial a los turistas brasileños (compatriotas suyos) y es muy displicente con los turistas chilenos. La mujer que atiende en la boletería también es muy altanera. Pese a que el centro de ski estaba prácticamente vacío, y a que literalmente nadie andaba en la zona de "peatones", no tuvieron un mínimo de sentido común como para dejarnos usar el trineo aunque fuera 10 minutos. Soy esquiador desde hace 30 años y montañista hace más de 20, conozco casi todos los centros de ski de chile, y doy fé que Lagunillas es por lejos el peor. Un lugar muy mal administrado, en el que se preocupan sólo por vender tickets y arrendar equipos, pero no por darle una buena experiencia a los turistas. Las cafeterías estaban cerradas, y se nota la falta de inversión en infraestructura, las pocas construcciones que tienen están en muy mal estado, y se nota que al pavimento del camino hace muchos años que no le hacen mantención, ya que está lleno de hoyos y grietas, además de tener muy pocas barreras de seguridad y señaléticas de tránsito. Felizmente pude darle un buen momento a mi hijo ya que tengo dinero para pagar la entrada que ellos le cobran a los peatones, y lo pude entretener con juegos distintos al trineo, pero no volveré más a ese mal llamado "centro de ski" o "centro invernal". Definitivamente se quedó irremediablemente rezagado frente a lugares como Farellones, La Parva, Portillo o Valle Nevado. A quienes vayan al Cajón del Maipo y quieran ver nieve, les recomiendo subir directamente hacia la zona de El Volcán o Baños Morales, o bien ir al Embalse del Yeso, pero no pierdan su tiempo ni arriesguen su seguridad yendo a Lagunillas.
