  • Have been to La Rosiere twice and about to return with Esprit. Esprit aim at the family market and have several chalets here, with obviously good reason. It's a relatively quiet resort on and off the snow with plenty for beginners and intermediates. Not the most advanced lift system, but the small queues easily compensate. Conditions are often excellent, good snow fall and lots of sun, but it can get very windy and cold. Although there isn't a massive range of very hard piste, for the advanced skier, there is quite a lot of off-piste opportunity. I'm relatively experienced and if I hadn't spent a lot of time with the family (leading around the blues on the La Rosiere side) I might have got bored by day 3-4. The link to La Thuile allows a decent day trip. However, I'd be cautious taking youngsters or anyone without a couple of weeks skiing behind them across the long, flat drag lifts to La Thuile, it could be a hard walk back to the beginning if you come off (not snowboard friendly, either). I don't take any notice of the night life in any resorts (I don't go to the trouble of going up a mountain to listen to dodgy dance music and then nurse a hangover anymore...), but La Rosiere doesn't seem very lively i.e. a perfect resort for families/young children.
