Spent five days here in early April 2022. If you like it steep, deep, beautiful and remote, then Kicking Horse is difficult to beat. Not a lot to do off the slope and you would run out of skiable terrain quite quickly if it hadn’t snowed for a while. We got lucky with 40cm+ of powder when we arrived. The slopes were empty, like properly empty, so we had fresh tracks for days. We hired a guide on the first day, expensive but worth every penny as we wouldn’t have worked out where to drop into the bowls from the ridge lines without our guide. We found Sunshine Village a bit dull the following week by comparison. In summary, possibly the best off-piste (and the top half of the mountain is all steep and off-piste) skiing we’ve had anywhere. The bottom half of the mountain is gentle with some lovely skiing through the trees. We will return … my teenagers are keen to work out there when they’re old enough. Fingers crossed!
