What's it like at El Fraile resort?

El Fraile is located near Coihaique and the Argentinian border. It is one of the most remote ski fields in South America. There are no other resorts for 620 miles but plenty of natural attractions e.g the Austral Highway. El Fraile is tree-lined, unlike many other areas in Chile and the powder slopes appeal to all levels of ability. Services at El Fraile are minimal but there is a ski school and ski hire available. There are a cafe, repair shop and fist aid station. The season runs from late-May to late-September.

    Espectacular escenografía patagona, bosques de nothofagus y vistas al Valle Simpson con lagos y montañas.
    No es el ideal para encontrar buena calidad de nieve y al infraestructura es básica, cuenta con dos lineas de ascensos de arrastre (Palto y Ancla), cuatro pistas, buen offpist. Camino precario y prístino, se debe tener cautela en todo momento.
