I don't think anyone who ever skied in Chepelare would write such a comment like another reviewer's one. In any Bulgarian ski resort now, you have to dig very hard in the 1+m snow to find a rock :)
For now Chepelare Ski Resort and ski center Mechi Chal offers best ski/value in Bulgaria. And all this with just one lift, but lot of well made and best prepared pistes. If you ever skied on the slopes of our "mega" concrete, overcrowded ski resorts like Bansko, Borovets or Pamporovo, you will get what I mean. You will see the difference. Better go there and give it a try before posting.

Yet another fantastic experience on Mechi Chal. The pistes were very well prepared as usual and Vasko's caterichka cocktails were superb.
Looking forward to my next visit.
Chepelare ski piste is a great place to ski in Bulgaria. It has great value for money. The main piste has more than 900m vertical descent and is 3300m long. It's uncommon to wait on queues because there's never too many people (because of the bigger Pamporovo resort nearby). The lift is fast and the staff are friendly.
It just has one drawback - it doesn't rain as much snow as on other places, although artificial snow foundation is always there. So check snow conditions before going.
Seems like a reviewer hasn't skied in Chepelare. Honestly, I have skied there every weekend, and I can assure you none of your statements is true.
To start with the slopes at Chepelare - quite wide. The personnel is very friendly, as are all the local people. The foundation from artificial snow is very strong, so the possibility of rocks going out is almost 0 and 'skiing' between trees - well this is up to you - there are trees, which are not on the slopes but if you wanna go in the forest that's your own choice.
Chepelare ski center sucks. Very narrow pistes, very rude staff, a lot of rocks under the snow and skiing between trees, so god be with you when you ski.

Hi there,
I'd like to share my experience of the resort-Chepelare. I've been skiing in Chepelare for 3 years now and I love it there. It has had great ski facilities since January 2009 when the new ski centre was opened. There is a new lift now and artificial snow. The conditions are very good and it is never overcrowded as the lift is quite fast.
The resort itself is a small, cozy town with very friendly people and good value hotels and restaurants.
I'll be skiing tomorrow there and I can keep you updated on the conditions.
