Visitor Reviews of Valfrejus
karl from Germany writes:
Visited this place the first week of the season and although there was a lot of snow on all levels probably because of the small number of tourists the runs were very limited indeed. The resort decided to open only the bottom part of the runs and the boredom became very quickly the main topic of my company.
The excuse was - the runs are with security problems - few controlled explosions within 30 seconds have done the job and it looked like there is no apparent danger around the top part of the ski area.
Honestly, I think the total upper runs ban was done for financial reasons rather than security. It is easy to find excuses and keep the tourists with limited skiing.
To be fair the snow kept on falling for the first half of the week.
The piste workers though did not keep on working hard enough and because of that runs were limited.
On the Friday we saw 3 machines started grooming the slopes but only managed to open a bit more on the Saturday when most of the tourists have decided to leave. We had to go to other neighbouring resorts which were much more ready and have opened much more of their pistes.
Spoke with some of the regulars in this otherwise very nice place and all have said that this is the "illness'' and that it is typical of the resort management.
I will list some of the lines they have mentioned because I feel that something was wrong and did not satisfy my group:
The long runs like Jeu were kept most of last season closed.
It was normal ski machines not to do the ski pistes so skiers felt not important.
Politics in this place makes it difficult to continue attracting skiers and snowboarders, mainly only new tourists.
The views from the Plato were superb and we all missed the chance to go all the way to the top.
We won't return to Valfrejus because the very limited skiing and the better standards in the resorts around this valley . Shame because otherwise and from the beginning we all liked the resort which is very convenient and compact.
