6 day Fernie snow forecast

Last year I lived and worked in Fernie for the entire season; it was my first time skiing there. I was dissapointed with the snow to say the least. The high speed quads pack people on the hill so fast that the snow is all gone in the inbounds terrain by ten, and the slackcountry you can access in Fernie is so small the pow is usually gone there by noon as well. I only had one powder day there, and that was because the roads were closed so none of the Calgary crowd could get in. As far as avalanche closure go, the rain/freeze/dump cycle, combined with the headwall above the resort creates perfect avalanche conditions, and the closures are frustrating, but perfectly justifiable. I'm not saying it doesn't dump there, but I am saying you are unlikely to see any of it unless you are waiting in line for the chair at 7 AM. If you like parties, nice hotels, and gourmet food, Fernie is the place to be. If you're like me, sleeping in the trunk of your car and eating ramen noodles all winter in order to earn face shots; you will be dissapointed.
