Summer Snow Camp in Quebec

Summer Snow Camp in Quebec

The Quebec ski area of Saint-Sauveur is to stage a five-day summer snowsport camp at the end of June, running into July.

Named the AKAMP it will take place from June 28 to July 3, 2019 at the Saint-Sauveur Versant Avila Summit.

The snowpark will be open for day sessions from 10am to 4pm and / or for evening sessions from 5pm to 9pm.

Packages are currently on sale for day visitors, including coaching; or with overnight accommodation included; or with overnight accommodation and travel.

A number of as yet un-named snowsports stars are expected to take part in the camp.

Mont Saint Sauveur on 18 May

A week ago Saint-Sauveur was one of the last three ski areas still open in Canada, and one of only two open on the East Coast of North America (along with Sunshine, pictured below at the start of this week, and Whistler in Canada and Killington in Vermont) when it opened for a final weekend of 18-19.

The latter two areas are currently still open although Whistler says this will be the last weekend of their regular season.

The camp markets itself as the only summer camp in Eastern Canada.  Snowsports camps are also organised on the Horstman glacier at Whistler over a five week period in June and July.

In the USA there are also camps at Copper Mountain in Colorado centred on the Woodward freestyle facility and snowpark and at Beartooth Basin, the summer-only ski area near the Montana/Wyoming border which is scheduled to open for its 2019 season from this weekend through to July 7th.
