Small BC Ski Area Plans Big Expansion

The long-established BC ski area of Troll Resort is planning to add 25 new ski runs and some gladed terrain for the next winter 23-24.

The ski area, which has been operating for more than 50 years, is expanding onto nearby Pinegrove Mountain, adding a fifth T Bar to access the two-dozen plus new runs.

Troll, located near Quesnel in British Columbia, located about 400km (250 miles) north of Sun Peaks, currently has 40 trails so the new additions will come close to doubling that total, with the number of lifts going up from 4 to 5, all drag lifts. There’s 527 metres (1729 feet) of vertical. It’s understood the new trails have already been cut.

Troll is one of three ski areas worldwide with Troll in their name. There’s also the US Midwest ski area of Trollhaugen in Wisconsin, which credits trolls for a lot of terrain maintenance work and there’s also Trollhöjden in southern Sweden.
