Nelson, BC is a hidden gem located in the legendary Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia. Known for deep pow, Whitewater Ski Resort boasts a dependable dry snowfall that often totals over 12 meters (40 feet) during a season! Terrain consists of open bowls, glades, chutes, and tree skiing: accessable from 3 chairlifts, the newest installed in the 2010/2011 season. This new lift nearly doubled the skiable area on the backside of the mountain! Whitewater owes its reputation to the laid-back people of Nelson, short lift lines, reasonable prices, and big hospitality. Don't worry about packing a lunch, because the world-renowned Fresh Tracks cafe at the day lodge is sure to impress. A spectacular setting, impressive amenities, deep snow, and delicious food...Whitewater is a place like no other. Come experience a true sample of Kootenay Mountain Culture.

This Big Mountain Freeskiing competition is for ages 7 to 18 years who will be judged on 5 different categories as described below. The terrain chosen has a designated start location, left and right boundaries, and a finish line. Where competitors go is totally up to them. This type of competition meshes really well with the Kootenay mentality and terrain.
