This may be one of the top resorts in Slovakia but that’s not really saying much. You pay around 30EUR for a days lift pass which gets you access to 7 lifts if, and that’s a big if, they decide to open them all. This is about the same as the Lecht.
Due to exposure from lack of trees (terrible storm wiped away nearly all of them), the slopes at the top are often icy and snowfall doesn’t do much to change this.
It is a good resort for beginners to intermediates on a budget. However, if you’re looking to ski varied terrain all day, this is not the place for you.
The lift pass does give you access to Strbské Pleso, which is a little more picturesque. On a good day it provides some nice tree lines.
We went on a ski holiday as a group: 4 couples and two infants.
Constructive feedback:
-We found this very expensive for what it has to offer. You get 10 times more in Austria at the same price.
-The ski passes were non-transferable and for 2 couples (the ones who came with infants) it was not a good deal. We had to pay the whole price for 2 ski-passes even if we could not ski all at the same time as two of us had to stay with the babies. We asked at the cash desk and also at the info center and there were no alternatives for families or for shorter period passes. Very inconvenient and this left the impression that they are not oriented towards the client satisfaction.
-The slopes were ok in the morning but after 2 hours some become impracticable (slopes 5 and 6) and they do not do anything till the next morning.
-When it comes to food you have very little choices at the apres-ski and these are a bit expensive.
-Very few employees speak an international language (English/Deutsch/French) and it was impossible to communicate.
-Parking was muddy
Good:
- Mountain view

Top of piste was steep and had moguls for alpinists. It was sunny above the clouds, bottom of piste was cloudy but less steep and more interesting for beginners. Fairly long run down to base and several pathways; short ride by tram to Štrbské Pleso and 2hrs by bus to Zakopane. Scenery is nice and buildings are neat and have a mountain style. Good budget skiing holiday. Here and Białka Tatrzańska is suitable to learn snowboarding.
Very poor skiing. One long run down from 1800m to 900m. Icy at the top, flat at the bottom. Can't understand why all the lifts go in the same direction and no more runs have been built!
Scenery is a bit odd with acres of dead trees and Communist-era buildings in the town to look at.
Lift pass was surprisingly expensive: EUR120 for four days, including Strebskie Pleso (which was a bit better). Food and drink very cheap but not great quality.
The most beautiful resort in Slovakia. This season Tatranská Lomnica will have a new chair lift and snowing system - the skiing is from December 'till May. I recommend it.
The slope is really nice and suitable mainly to off-piste freaks (or ski alpinists). Chair lift to be used in highest part is rather old and so weather/wind prone but if you get there in nice sunny spring time (up to May 11th every year) it's really a great season end.
