What's it like at St. Anton resort?

Professional skiing developed at St. Anton in 1901 and with the opening of the Galzigbahn in 1937 another milestone in the history of skiing was set. Due to the performance of it's pioneers the Arlberg today is the cradle of alpine skiing. In 2001, the resort hosted the World Alpine Ski Championships. From winter 2016/17 Ski Alberg became a connected skiing area. With the construction of 4 new gondolas it became possible to get a cableway link between Alpe Rauz and Zürs. So, Ski Alberg is now the largest skiing area in Austria with 305 km of slopes and 200 km of deep powder runs. The Ski Arlberg pass is valid for St. Anton plus Stuben am Arlberg, St. Christoph, Lech, Zürs, Warth, Schröcken, and additionally for Sonnenkopf/Klösterle. Beyond the new gondolas a free ski bus can be used to reach all the areas, too. The local tourist office website is www.stantonamarlberg.com.

Snow Patrol Jan 2024 from Ireland writes:

Had been wanting to ski in St Anton for so long and eventually went at the end of January 2024. So disappointed with the resort, they have managed to interlink a huge area but have done so using narrow traverses, which require a lot of poling. Had to get a bus back from Zurs one day and couldn't believe you had to pay on the bus, just under 6 Euros but cash only. And the pistes back in to St Anton are a death trap because the blue piste has been closed due to avalanche risk since the start of the season. Why don't they just deal with that and open it. The ski patrol guys were extremely busy dealing with the carnage on run 52 back in to the village.
