The Ski Welt is one of the biggest and best ski areas in Austria. The lift system is efficient and modern. It is really an intermediates paradise. There are a number of black runs and reasonable off-piste for experts. Those new to the sport have many blues to explore but limited facilities for beginners in the village of Söll itself and the home mountain (Hohe Salve) has a long blue into town, but otherwise more for experienced skiers. Mountain restaurants in the whole area are excellent and plentiful. Söll itself used to be quite a lively resort in the evenings but in the last 3 or 4 years has quietened down a lot to the extent nightlife is almost non existent apart from a few bars, a couple with live music some days. The resort made a decision to focus on families.
Soll was amazing 6 years ago. So many great bars and restaurants. Lately (maybe covid related) its lost its buzz. The underground bar is gone, so the Salvenstadl and Red Horse. David's underground bar is the greatest loss. He used to go on the slopes and video newbies, then show the videos in his bar! Everyone went to his place to see themselves and it was a great place to connect and have a laugh at yourself and others. Making friends for the week. There is still good food in Soll but not as fun as it used to be

Been visiting Soll for many years and still love the varied pistes, stunning views and excellent food and drink.
Totally recommend the Hotel Postwirt.
Constant lift and snow-making investments recently have made this a very worthwhile resort to visit.
Depending on conditions there are some reasonable blacks, good reds and an intermediates cruising paradise.
Been 4 years in a row and heading back this year. Can't fault the ski area at all. Odd time down the back at Brixen; a bit slushy but generally always good. Stayed in hotel Austria and Christphorus and stayed with the wonderful Barbara in her lovely self named guesthouse. Town has ice estate ants and bas (?ed) but little else. Great value resort, great apres ski, great mountain huts and restaurants, great ski hire and lockers. As I've said, very little to fault and even though it's low the snowmaking guarantees a great week!
Just had an awesome week in Soll! Arrived on the 22nd of March and found that there was no snow! By the evening it started and didn't finish until the Monday! 75cm of fresh powder and blue skies heaven!

Been to Soll 3 times in 2003, 2004 and 2005 with family and friends. Loved the snow and food and restaurants and nightlife. Stayed at the Mounty and Teresa would recommend both to families and highly recommend the resort. If you like larger and ale, best in Europe by a mile and reasonably priced. 250km of interconnected ski runs only surpassed by the 3 valleys resorts in France. However, a lot cheaper and more family atmosphere.
Have been skiing for over 30 years and have visited numerous resorts in France, Italy, Austria and Scotland. All have been great but I keep returning to the Skiwelt and the resort of Soll. I first went to Soll in 1984 when it was the ski equivalent of San Antonio. Over the years it has grown up, as we, the guests, get older. I have been to Soll over 20 times, and when speaking to people in the bars, this is not unusual. Testament to the quality in the area. The ski lift company has invested millions over the years whereby the lift system and snow making system are second to none. Piste preparation is also to be commended, with an army of Piste Bully's deployed every night. For such a low resort, I am amazed that I have never had any problems with snow conditions. Indeed, over the past 2 years, (Xmas and Feb both years) I have experienced the best snow conditions of any of my ski holidays.
Soll has lost it's lager lout image and is now a much more adult experience while still offering entertaining and lively nightlife. Hotels range from basic to luxury. I have only ever resided in basic but found them to provide comfortable accommodation with excellent food. The resort is compact with all bars and facilities nearby and easy access to the slopes.
I have travelled with large groups of varying ability and found touring together to be extremely easy. That said, I am well versed in the runs in the area. The piste map and piste markings can be difficult to understand. This does not detract from the experience. You just have to study the map a bit more and plan your routes. The whole area is varied, with spectacular views and the ability to tour all day without ever returning to the same run. There is nothing to task the expert but plenty to work the legs. This is a fun ski area with excellent mountain restaurants and is very good value for money. Food and drink, even on the mountain is reasonably priced. Also thrown into the mix is a large night skiing area in Soll.
Nightlife, as previously stated, is great and starts early as you come off the slopes and continues (if you last) into the early hours in The Whisky Mhule.
It is impossible to recommend any particular run, mountain restaurant, bar or activity as everything is so good.
I will be returning again this Xmas and again on 2 Feb, staying at Hotel Rubin. See you there.

Back to Soll (Söll) in Feb for our 26th year. Summer and winter it speaks for itself with great hospitality. We always stay in private pensions, it's the best way to get to know the local people. We are taking our grandson with us for his 2nd visit and he has just turned one year old. We will be staying at the same pension we stayed at last summer. Fly to Munich, pick up the minibus and you are as good as there. You can't get bored skiing such a vast area. Try skiing to Brixental and taking the gondola over to Westendorf. It's a great trip in both directions. Soll is a great place for everyone, enough said.
Just returned from a long Xmas in Soll with 3 other families, all have visited on many occasions but the 1st time with all the children.
What can you say, a great place and with the snow falling most days and lots of it it was magical.
Everywhere was as welcoming and helpful as usual, from the guys in the locker room at the foot of the gondola to all the bars and restaurants we visited. Good to see the prices not gone silly as in other areas.
Back on the 13th January for another week with a large group and can't wait.
If you see a group of Taffia, give us a shout !! We will be accompanied by Tony Pandy, our guide.
Harry, look out, you are feeding us for a week....
