The Cottonwood Canyons is home to some of the best, if not the best, snow on earth. Match that with world-class steeps, and tree skiing, and you have what is probably the best resort on earth. The only other resorts that have come into the conversation are Jackson Hole and Chamonix. The day-to-day operations run like clockwork and the snow feels like it has silk mixed in. Snowbird makes you feel alive.

Snowbird offers an impressive terrain with 988 m of vertical drop, 85 trails across 1,011 hectares, and a solid infrastructure with 13 lifts. Because its snow conditions are closely tracked — including average snow-days in December of ~3.4 snow days/week. For users of the Snow Day Predictor tool, Snowbird is a strong test case: its well-monitored snow history and predictable seasonal patterns mean that forecasting models (like yours) can be calibrated effectively. The detailed data (snow depth, recent accumulation, live weather conditions) available for Snowbird helps refine and validate the predictor’s algorithms. In short: Snowbird is not just a world-class resort — it also provides the reliable snow-weather data context that makes your Snow Day Predictor more accurate and meaningful to users planning for a snow day.

Skied here 2025, 3 days April-May shift. My first time in the US skiing. Very impressive terrain, skiable in a way not common in Europe. Also lots of snow, but being late in the season, a bit slushy. Best suited for medium to experienced skiers. Compared to the Alps, not many places available for lunch on the slopes. I expect snow conditions would have been really fantastic a couple of weeks earlier. Very short transfer (40m) from SLC airport, impressive.

Snowbird is an expert paradise. It has everything you could want, certainly the best snowfal, 500"/yr) in the USA and likely the planet. Endless possibilities of expert terrain from top to bottom. Three huge bowls. Beautiful Scenery. And if you stay just 25 minutes away in the Salt Lake Valley (Sandy/Midvale) the most inexpensive ski vacation you could find. You can board a flight from most major US airports in the morning, including the East Coast, and be skiing by 1pm. And you can do the same on the way home, skiing until noon or later and arriving back home(US) that evening. If you tire of Snowbird, Alta is right next door and then there are 6 other terrific resorts to explore, all within an hour's drive.

Snowbird rocks. I live nearby and go up as often as I can late afternoons during the week and on weekends. The snow is superb and the resort is huge. I'm an intermediate skier and enjoy runs off Peruvian and Gadzoom. I've also stayed in the Cliff Lodge at Snowbird and must say that the pool and hot tub are fantastic. El Chanate has tasty Mexican food, and the Aerie (top floor of Cliff) has fantastic Sushi and a host of other nice dishes, but a bit pricey.

Snowbird/Alta have the most dependable snowfall in North America. Snow quality is fantastic. Terrain is varied, but tends towards expert. Accessibility to Salt Lake Airport (which is a Delta hub) is a huge plus. There is zero nightlife in Big Cottonwood Canyon, so these areas are strictly for serious skiers. Those who want to bar hop should go to Park City, but recognize that the areas around there get about a third less snow than Snowbird/Alta, and the terrain isn't as challenging either.

I had a perfect vacation at Snowbird. It snowed tons when we were there. We stayed at Cliff Lodge and would definitely recommend this resort. I'm too pooped at the end of the day for a night life anyway.

Incredibly easy access via SLC Airport - 45 minute trip. Leave Boston at 6am and ski the afternoon. Alta/Snowbird is for the dedicated skier. Ski almost all the terrain of both areas. Fabulously light snow and lots of it. Mineral Basin is vast and breathtaking. Easy access to both Alta and Snowbird from here. Not a lot of night life, but if you want to enjoy these areas, you will need your rest anyway. The Cliff Lodge is worth the money. Hot Tub and heated pool on the roof. End of day watch the last runs while you get the lactic acid out of your legs in the tub.
