I was in six French resorts (Les Sybelles, Tignes, Val Thorens, Risoul, Alpe d´Huez and Serre Chevalier - last year). I would never come back to another resort then Serre Chevalier!! Very high number of excellent slopes (in other resorts I found only one or two), in the middle of March was the whole week sunny, good temperature and plenty of good snow!. Stayed in Villeneuve, Le Bez residence (50 m to the lift). I´m going there this Friday and really looking forward to indulge everything what it is offered there. Czech people still didn´t explore this resort, so pssst :) and see you there :)

07/02 - 14/02/2010. Stayed at Grand Hotel in Chantemerle (Serre Chevalier). Was HB and food was generally ok and plenty of it. Rooms are tiny - I was in a room with a double and pull down single - it was barely adequate for me on my own. Chantemerle is quiet but I can recommend Happy Hour in Bar le lodge under the Grand Hotel, nice staff and live music most days. Also the Station Bar for live entertainment later on.
The skiing across the four villages is tremendous and should ensure that you are not bored by the end of the week. The lift systems are well integrated and signposted and the links between the villages - easy to find and access. The skiing at Briancon is fairly limited with just one really good red run from the top of the gondola all the way down to the town, the rest of the runs are so - so and require button lifts which are not my favourite. Skiing at Chantemerle (Serre Chevalier) is quite extensive but most of the runs are very similar, the runs are not very long but are all serviced with pretty good high speed chairs. The Luc Alphand Black run back to the village is great fun and can be tackled by most ability groups as there is a bail out green which avoids some of the steeper sections.
Villeneuve has some tremendous skiing terrain - from the top bowl all the way back to the village through the trees. Casse du Boeuf and Bez are very good. The link to Monetier is accessed via a very slow chair and then two flat narrow traverses (probably the only part of the system Boarders would struggle), however, the trip across is well worth it as the runs back down to Monetier are excellent. A must when the weather is clear is the Yret Chair, the view from the top is amazing as is the red back to the bottom. The only drawback to Monetier if you are staying in Chatemerle is the ski back. There is only one way (unless you use the bus!) - you must take Cucumelle (best run in the valley) and then ski all the way down to Villeneuve, traversing along Frejus to get to the Casse du Boeuf chair, then back down to Aravet to get over to Chatemerle. This takes a good while and it's easy to run out of time and get stranded when the lifts close. I would recommend Serre Chevalier to anyone, I had a fantastic week of great snow conditions, blue skies and sunshine. Will definitely be returning.

28th Jan - 31st Jan. Stayed in Chantemerle. SC (Serre Chevalier) is awesome. Fantastic skiing with plenty of runs and not crowded. Start early though. Due to North Facing slopes you lose the good light about 3.30. All staff spoke excellent English. Lifts are good in general although a few button lifts further across the valley. Great green runs for beginners to get them home. Having skiied in Switzerland, Austria and Italy I'd recommend this as one of the best places I have skiied. Hoping to go back at Easter, fingers crossed for snow.
Visited Serre Chevalier in Jan 10 and stayed in Vilenueve. We have skiied in various places previously and found that this ski resort had the quietest pistes we had seen, resulting in non-existent lift queues. The pistes were well maintained and with the linked system of lifts it was easy to move between the four different villages that make up this area. As boarders though, some of the runs were a little flat and narrow but that was really the only drawback. Definitely not a place for party animals, with quiet bars and restaurants.
This is my second time in Serre Chevalier. Both times I found the snow excellent. First morning, during ski school which was easy to find and not too expensive (well my folks paid), I met my instructor and after 10 mins skiing she knew that I had been skiing before and bumped me up a group which is very rare for a ski instructor to do. After six years skiing (one week every year) I honestly found that these two years skiing in Serre Chevalier have made all the difference in my skiing abilities. Food was fab, can't comment on prices because I'm only fourteen and my mam and dad picked up the tab but some places could have been expensive but it was well worth it. Flights going home were delayed by snow and only for Jackson who owns the alpine travel company pulling it out of the bag by getting us to the airport on time and he is also Irish. Missed Trev and the whistle. By the end of the week I was skiing down through trees on Luc Alphand and when you go to Serre Chevalier you will find out what that is.
Went to Serre Chevalier in Jan 09 and stayed at the Grand Aigle. Had a great week and the conditions were fantastic. Just booked the same trip again for Jan 10. One of the few ski areas I would revisit.
Serre Chevalier is wonderful. Fantastic variety of skiing and brilliantly friendly people. Spent the week in ski school with friends. It was the best experience we had ever had where lessons are concerned. Vivre "Ski Connections".
Serre Chevalier has friendly shops with reasonably priced ski hire and restaurants etc.
Serre Chevalier is definitely recommended.
I visited Villeneuve, Serre Chevalier at Christmas this year. The snow was excellent, the locals very friendly and we had a great time in a resort with atmosphere and charm.
We chose Serre Chevalier because of it's excellent snow record over the last few years and were not disappointed.
There is a variety of pistes for all levels of skiers and borders - some in our group headed off for freeride skiing between the trees and others had lessons with the local international ski school (ski connections - recommended).
In the evening we frequented the Yetti, Mojos and Le Frog. All very lively, offering cocktails and live music of good quality until 2am.
Our group is planning the same trip next Christmas and give Serre Chevalier a well deserved 9/10.

Been coming to this resort for the last 8 years. Sometimes up to four times a season, bringing groups.
Last here in January and will be there at Christmas at the Frejus.
Excellent snow record, excellent long runs, no queues, excellent lift system.
You will never get bored.
People are wonderful. You will always compare other resorts with this place. I have had a go at other resorts and this is always my number 1.
We have just bought a house in Chantemerle and it is great.... There are loads of good places to eat.. and good shops, the runs are easy to get around as you will soon get the hang of the place. We bought a holiday house and go there regualy (alot) in the summer and winter, I prefer winter because of skiing and snowboarding. They usually get lots of fluffy snow!! aswell,
