Best freeride in the Julian alps.
Tons of terrain is accessible by lifts, and 30 minutes touring brings you to steep big mountain faces always covered in snow.
North facing, cold, lots of good snow.
Hey, visited Sella Nevea and Bovec in January 2011. Pretty happy with the whole stay (4star in Zaga - eur33/night/person) and skiing (mostly in Nevea, eur106/4day skipass). Had 1 day closed due to strong winds (50kmh) - with no refund for the day.
Pls keep in mind:
- info center in Nevea lacked info (or just misinformed us) about situation and conditions in nearby resorts
- the 4day skipass that is valid in 5 different resorts around Nevea' is actually only valid if you purchase at least 5day skipass. Anything less than that can only be used in Bovec, Nevea and Tarvisio. This info is not published anywhere.
Rode Sella Nevea in Feb 07 while on a trip to Slovenia with the guys from Basealp. The slopes at the top of the area are good for beginners and there are a couple of reds down to the bottom. Once at the bottom there are 4 drag lifts serving lots more beginner slopes. For the advanced rider there is an unbelievable amount of very steep off-piste terrain - the best accessed from Kanin ski area on the Slovene side of the mountain. The Sella Nevea ski area is due to be linked to Kanin ski area in Slovenia, making it a good sized area for all levels of rider. For more info check out www.basealp.com.
