Sainte Foy resort must be big and easy to get lost in if it took 29 minutes between lifts. The point has been missed about Sainte Foy. Should have stayed on the motorways in Les Arcs, where you spend more time on the lifts than you do on the piste and 29 minutes to queue and travel one lift, not three. 80% of Sainte Foy is off-piste for all standards, so the size of the prepared ski area is irrelevant - and I guess the people who buy here don't worry about prices, if they are into this type of great skiing for all ages, abilities and styles.

Lot's of positive reviews but here's a few of the negatives too regarding Sainte Foy. The lift system is very, very slow with only one high speed detachable chairlift. From top to bottom takes 29 minutes by 3 lifts. The resort is only suited for beginners or early intermediates in that an experienced skier would ski every run in a morning. A stay of longer than 2 days would be pretty boring. The off-piste opportunities cannot be argued with but they are only for the better skier. Stay in one of the big nearby resorts and visit for a day or stay for a week but have transport to get to bigger resorts at least 3 times during the stay. The resort itself is over-populated by snooty Brits who are most likely peeved by the fact that their properties have lost significant value since the anticipated resort expansion did not occur. To avoid this visit on Saturdays when most Brits are on the way to the airport or not yet arrived. Great current offers using vouchers available from ticketcom.net giving a 12.50 Euro day pass on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

This year will be my 4th trip to Sainte Foy with Snowology. I've been to most of the French resorts and without doubt this is my favourite. If there are 4 people in front of you in the lift queue it's a busy day!! Mike, Monica and the team at Snowology will ensure you have the best ski holiday ever. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I have been skiing in Ste Foy (Sainte Foy) for a number of years and absolutely love it. It's a wonderful family resort with enough pistes to entertain families and plenty of off-piste for the intrepid adventurers among you. There are no queues, and the pistes are never majorly busy, even in peak weeks (we are now half-term skiiers thanks to the children). We always go with Premiere Neige, who have loads of properties within the station. We treated ourselves to catered this year, and were spoiled rotten by our chef and host, who both worked really hard to make our holiday special. The food was great, as was the chalet - we couldn't fault the service. Because the resort (Sainte Foy) is so small, none of the accommodation is far from the pistes, so no long walk home in ski boots after a long day. You are close enough to have a day at Tignes or Val if you want, but we generally choose not to - too much hassle and stress for a day of lift queues and crowded pistes. Ste Foy (Sainte Foy) remains a solid favourite in my book.

Sainte Foy is the gem in the Alpine crown. The skiing is consistently excellent; we have never had to queue for a lift and there's a huge amount of varied off-piste (ranging for some great practice areas for the off-piste novice right through to real gnarly stuff for those more experienced). We stay at Chalet Chez Max in the small hamlet of La Thuile (just 4ks down hill from the actual ski area back down hill towards Sainte Foy itself). The chalet is run by Max and Claudette and is superb. The food is excellent, the wine is top notch, the chalet is very high quality and the hosts are fantastic. Thoroughly recommend it.

Once again Sainte Foy takes a lot to beat. The new lift has really opened up the resort and allows for some spectacular skiing which suites people at all levels. My son has progressed with the ESF Sainte Foy Ski School to the top class and, despite visiting other resorts with his school, still prefers the slopes of Sainte Foy. We are planning to return for our 6th year in 2010 and look forward to using Snowology. As an organisation, Snowology goes from strength to strength - equisite quisine coupled with great hosts led by the husband and wife team Mike and Monica.

St. Foy (Sainte Foy) is a very special resort with excellent on and off-piste and no queues. We spent Christmas week 2008 in Chalet Tin Tin with a terrific new company, White Room Chalet. The owners and hosts are Iona and Steven who could not do enough for you. The chalet is authentic and charming and far superior to the mock alpine versions in the resort. It has real character and you really can ski to the door. The meals produced by Iona are quite simply delicious and she insists on making everything by hand - her afternoon cakes are legendary. Steve and Iona are the perfect hosts and produce a most welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. All our party agreed that 2008 was our best Christmas ever. Can't wait to go back.

I was lucky enough to ski twice in 2007 in St Foy. Once in March on a boys week and then again in April with my family. Skiing on both occasions was superb. Stayed with Snowology on both trips - just fantastic, amazing accommodation and great service particularly from Mike Jubb and Monica, his wife - nothing is too much for these guys who put everything in to making the trips a success! No mean feat from Snowology to cater for 2 very different sets of guests - comments from both parties were really positive. Needless to say the bars were visited more frequently on the lads week and the free booze laid on by Snowology enjoyed by both parties. I can't recommend St Foy and Snowology enough - what a great combination! We are booked to go again in 2008

I have been very lucky to have visited SF for the last few new years. Even with the poor snow falls of 2007 I still managed to find powder! Used www.sainte-foy-chalets.co.uk in March and took some very hardened skiers. No one got very excited by the ski map, but were blown away by the quality of the chalet (and just a snow balls throw from the lift). We had a competition that anyone who took a photo of more than 12 people in a queue would get free drinks for the day - it never happened. Then I took these reluctant skiers to the top and over the back... their words... "the best skiing ever". You just need to get off ‘map’. My kids learned to ski in SF and have skied in 3 other resorts as well - life is soooo much nicer in SF. Thanks John for introducing me.

I have been to Sainte Foy for the past two years and it was the most fantastic wee place for taking a young family to ski at. The lift operators slow the lifts down for the kids to get on and off. The pistes are quiet and everyone on them stop to let kids ski past or are very patient with the kids when skiing near them. A very safe place and plenty of skiing for all the family. If you want a challenge it mightn't be the place for you. Only 4 lifts catering for about 15 or 16 runs but lots of off-piste if you fancy it. A couple of blacks and 3 or 4 reds and a few blues and greens. I would say it is perfect for the beginner and the intermediate skier. The best place for kids! Try it and see just how great a wee place it is. Also half price lift tickets for the larger ski areas if you fancy a day away to somewhere larger.
